strange question

Going in on Tuesday,
my son came over for breakfast he wanted to do everything getting the pampering early I'll take it
He asked me a good question...
Mom what chair will you be able to sit in??
Good questions, I don't have a recliner, and all my chairs are big a puffy.
Does any one have an answer..
What kind of chair is best when you come home from the hospital? Should I rent something?
Thanks Diane

strange question

The first night home I sat on the coach and couldn't get back up without help! Next time, I made sure I had pillows to build it up higher and the be able to rearrange so I had something to push against. Our bed is too high, so there is now a single step foot stool in front of it for me. We never viewed it as too high before I keep lots of pillows there to built my "nest" as he calls it. I need the support to lay on my side not only for my but for my back.

strange question

The couch and loveseat were and sometimes still hard to get out of. If I sit in my computer chair its usually with a pillow behind my back for support. Most of the time I sit on my bed with pillows propped up behind me. That way I can strecth my legs out if I want to or lay down and get comfy.

strange question

I used a cane to help me get up off the loveseat. The chair is a little higher so I didn't have too many problems.

Pillows are a must.

strange question

This is a great question!

I also used the couch for the first few weeks, with extra pillows behind my back so it was easier to stand up. No climbing up on the kitchen stools for several weeks.

I actually found the recliner quite difficult, as ours requires "kicking in" the footrest upon standing.

strange question

My best post-op chair has been my recliner. I had surgery where my Dr. told me my butt would hurt a lot (and it does), so the recliner helps me "sit" but not all the pressure is on my butt, but evenly distributed.

My first time out after surgery was when my DH took me to lunch. It was so uncomfortable sitting in the chair, I leaned forward on my elbows during most of the meal. And also, sitting in a car really hurt.

The reason my butt hurts so much is that I had Pelvic Floor Reconstruction for Uterine/Bladder Prolapse. So I don't know if everyone else has the same kind of pain I have...
