Question - Hot flashes Hot flashes

It's been a long while since I've posted. I am post surgery 11 years this year, I think. I kept my ovaries.
I've just been recently told that my hormone levels were (finally) post menopausal. This was found out after two trips to the doctor for weird sweating, nausea and feelings of weakness/faintness.
Since I'd never *had* hot flashes before, I found these episodes extremely weird. I am not a person that runs to the doctor much - I doctor myself- but this sent me there.
The best they could say was: post menopausal and these were hot flashes. .
My question: Is nausea and weakness/feeling faint part of a hot flash? The sweating is gradual. I feel a little hot and then realize I am drenched under my breasts and my forehead. I can handle that. It's the feeling like I'm going to vomit and fall over that has me concerned. Thanks for listening!

Sweating under breasts, check. Sweat dripping down your back (with really bad hot flashes), yes. I'm wondering if the faint feelings are more than that--maybe a blood sugar issue or panic attack. Hope your doctor checks out a few things as I would say vomit and fainting aren't usually part of the hot flashes unless you are so confined you can't cool down.

Re: Hot flashes

I had thought of the blood sugar thing and did some finger pricks when it was happening. Nothing outside the normal range for me. Thanks for the reply. I'll try checking again when it happens again.

Re: Hot flashes

Hot flashes started up shortly after surgery-up to 50/day and a little wave of nausea before each one. They subsided for a few months but have come back. First one is right when I wake up each day. The nausea is disconcerting but normal. Dr. said I would know when I need to intervene with hormone meds-maybe that just means as long as I can stand it.
Sweating with you, sister! Cotton percale sheets help .
