Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 25-May 31,2015

If your hysterectomy was between May 25-May 31,2015 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your hysterectomy recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads now begin in our special forum for all Hysterectomy Recovery Reports and will remain there for you to always find your discussion.
  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!
  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

I was discharged from hospital this morning at 10am. I had a vagunal hysterectomy yesterday morning at 9.:15. I took my pain meds only 3 hours ago but I'm in a lot of pain. I think it's gas. In trying to find the info on this site. Im feeling overwhelmed right now. I'm staying at my sisters, so away from home and kids is making me a bit sad. But my sister can nurse me full time for the next few days. I think I overdid it coming home earlier this afternoon. Was feeling good and walked around lots. Im Using a heating pad on my tummy. And off to look for info on post-op gassiness pain. If anyone can help me find it I would appreciate it!!

Had my vaginal hysterectomy with bladder sling done today. I will say that emotionally, i had a rough day yesterday, thought i was handling it great than broke down real good at our local park (every baby there seemed personally against me,smiling, giggling, hugging my legs...had to leave) but than this morning, i was just fine again, calm, ready to do it. Once i went back i was on anethesia and out, woke up in recovery. Since i woke up, i have had NO pain at the surgery site, even the catheter and groin incisions are not painful at all, bothersome when i move but not painful. My pain has all been in my abdomen, and that alone was enough. I have been on a morphine pump all day, and it was not even putting a dent in the pain i had in my abdomen. It was absolutly excruciating, hospital provided a heat pad and i was able to curl into a fetal position which helped for a few hours, than they came in and gave me a demoral shot and added Toradol to my iv, i was finally able to sleep. Wide awake now tho, and i do not hurt beyond maybe a two, completly tolerable. I have not even needed to hit the pump button for last couple hours. They will be removing my packing bx 5am and 7am, should be able to be home around noon. And emotionally? I am ok. Once in awhile, i have a moment, might tear up, but it passes and i can smile bc i am hoping this pain will be the end and i will never have to dread month to month ever again! A Stage three prolapsed uterous, prolapsed bladder and endometrious sufferer for last 7 years.

Hi SheriB45,

Are you taking any GasX? Using a heating pad on your shoulder and then over your abdomen helps also with gas as well as walking. Some women also find that changing positions helps.

Here is the article gas, gas, gas after hysterectomy

I have doing good today was sent home at noon, just having hard time getting out of vehicles, up and down stairs at home, most pain i am feeling is what im suspectinh as gas pains. Was able to take a shower soon as i got home with my boyfriends help, im really shaky and wobbly. And ive already been getting fussed at by my family but my mom came down to "help" and her "help" included rearranging my whole home..i cant find anything, and all i wanted to do was come home and sleep but...its impossible until my mom actually goes home.she is moving all of my house around..i know ive already done major no nos, bc i had to pick up my sofa and put it back where it goes! But other than internal family issues my body's internal issues are actually paling in comparison at this moment. Have not had much bleeding, just light spots. And light cramping. What i really need is sleep. Also, i did notice, they sent me home on a reg diet, but when i came home starving and tried to eat leftover deer steaks, i got real nauseas, but i handled reg oatmeal just fine. And im staying on stool softeners too..ive already noticed a big change in urination with the bladder sling, urge to go is dif, and its hard to tell at times if i even have to.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 25-May 31,2015

apples1981,

Please, please, please do not pick up anything! I know it is distressing to have everything rearranged in your home but your job is to rest. You do not want complications by overdoing. As for diet, it is not unusual to have a loss of appetite or nausea from the combination of surgery, anesthesia and pain meds in your system. Eat lite healthy foods that are not difficult to digest for the first few days.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 25-May 31,2015

Had a laporascopic hysterectomy yesterday 5/26 - ended up being 4 hours and 15 min.... fibroids were difficult to get out and then a ton of endometriosis that was not expected. Threw up a lot but have gotten passed that - eating small meals and getting water in me. Sleeping almost non-stop taking meds as directed every 4 hours. Made it to the kitchen to fill up my small water bottle--felt like a victory!! Friend had suggested getting a riser for the toilet seat so I can get up and down easier--best purchase ever....back to my nap....
