Insurance approved *whew*
After reading a few posts of insurance denials I was feeling a little panicked. I called the insurance department of my Drs office last week and lit a fire under their rears to get me pre-certified now, not later.
I got a letter yesterday. My insurance company doesnt even require precertification for hysterectomy ??
It says based on medical information and surgery type they will also allow a 23 hour observation stay. Anything over 23 hours will not be covered unless it becomes medically necc. and is pre approved first.
I have to pay my $1000 deductible to my Drs office when I go in for my preop. My insurance will cover 80% from there, and once I meet another 2500.0o0 out of pocket they will kick in at 100%.
I am just SO relieved to know its not going to be rejected and everything is a go! One less stress.

Re: Insurance approved *whew*
I know what you mean about the stress. I had an issue regarding insurance but it was the insurance company who came to my rescue (gasp, I know!).
My doctor is great--her staff, not so much. She has a dippy assistant who handles the insurance stuff and she kept insisting I had to pay 80% and the insurance only covered 20%. What kind of insurance policy is that? Plus, she kept insisting I had a deductible. I dont. They overcharged me for the endo biopsy last week, so now I dont have to pay the doctor a dime. They even argued with the insurance company and said "it was a matter of different opinions". It went on a for a bit but they finally figured it out.
I just couldnt understand why it was so difficult for her to grasp what me and the insurance company were saying.
I am glad you are feeling better about it and have some peace of mind. It really adds to the already existing stress.

Re: Insurance approved *whew*
Plus don't get worried if more occurs post-surgery. I had to have a second surgery on the same day which now the insurance was denying all of the second surgery costs. They didn't understand that there were two surgeries and I just had to send both operative reports and it is now being taken care of...so no matter what...don't worry!!! Sometimes you get staff that just for whatever reason aren't up on things, but there will always be someone there in your corner
Best wishes....I return to work on the day you have yours, so will be thinking of you and praying for you!!
Hugs
