Anyone on the Southshore?

Hi there,
Just found this thread. I'm in Rockland. Still recovering from my TAH/BSO. When the temperature rose these past few days my incision started to hurt again. I'm also going through chemo for ovarian cancer. I can certainly relate to the hot flashes - ugh! and unfortunately because of hair loss I usually wear hats or scarves which just makes me hotter.

Vicky - sorry to hear that you have had some complications. Just remember not to overdo it. Be kind to your body.

Jessica - when are you going in for the sliver removal? Are you going to a Boston hosp?

SDMF - how are you feeling since your hyst on Aug 10?

Talk soon.

I just returned to work half days yesterday, strange how tuckered out by the time I get home, but finally I am getting some sleep. still dealing with the hematoma, I have ultra sound tomorrow to see how much it has shrank... the bleeding wears me out....can't wait to throw the pads out!! Be well.. Hugs..vickie

Anyone on the Southshore?

Hi Vickie
How'd the ultrasound go?

I too am working 1/2 days now. I thought it would be a piece of cake but I'm so tired after 4 hours I'm glad that I don't have a long commute to get home.

I've got chemo round #3 tomorrow (Thurs). I'll be checking back in a couple of days.

Hi there, hematoma was a softball size and it has shrunk about half the size, yeah! I was hoping it shrunk more, It will probably be another few weeks of bleeding before it is completely gone... I also am only good for 4-5 hours. I hope your chemo goes well, it must tire you out, does it make you sick?

Hi Vickie,

It shrank by half?? That's excellent! Just keep taking good care of yourself and it'll be gone before you know it. Do you have anyone to help you?

The chemo makes me very tired and although I have meds for nausea, my stomach still never feels quite right. Last night I experienced my first ever migraine headache. Oh joy! It's about gone now but had lasted full blown for about 7 hours. I thought I was going to lose it from the pain. Aside from the yuck feeling I think the hardest part of the battle is keeping my meds straight, taking them on time and still eating enough to keep my weight up. On the plus side... I'm 50% of the way through my treatments - yeah!

Hope you are feeling good this weekend. Talk soon.

Anyone on the Southshore?

I live in Athol ( Western MA) and haven't had mine yet. See the doc on Thurs. I'm suppose to keep my ovaries, but they are watching large cysts on them. Scheduled for another ultrasound the end of Oct. The estrogen thing you mentioned is scary as I struggle with daily headaches as it is. I hope I don't need it. What did you mean when you said that your ovaries hadn't kick in yet? Do they stop working after a hyster.?

I believe when they take the uterus/tubes, they have to clamp off blood flow to ovaries, so after surgery sometimes ovaries can be sluggish, or not kick in yet, cuz blood flow has to get back to normal. Also Hyst. reduces the life of ovaries by 3-5 years. Yippee... no hormones or early menopause for a few years.... The headache part was my doc just letting me know that will be an indication that ovaries are working cuz with taking BC it will put too much estrogen in my body....I'm hoping for headache and breast tenderness so I can stop taking the BC and know that my ovaries are working.
