Question.....maybe stupid....

but I'm going to ask anyway. :-)

In the past, we had our periods which acted as a cleansing agent for our vagina etc. Now, without a uterus and no menstrating... how do we ensure that our vagina stays clean and fresh?????

Also, I still have my ovaries and tubes, so I will ovulate.... where do the eggs go??? do they just get "reabsorbed" by my body???

Re: Question.....maybe stupid....

There are no stupid questions, and actually that one about where the eggs go has been asked several times. So you are not alone. My understanding is that they are simply absorbed by the body. Like the sperm are when a man has a vasectomy.

As far as the vagina staying clean, I have no idea on that one....

Re: Question.....maybe stupid....

The vagina sheds it's lining and cells like any other organ to keep clean and fresh even without a uterus and periods to flush the system. Like post menopausal women who have no periods, the vagina works on it's own behalf.

Re: Question.....maybe stupid....

As mentioned, the vagina is self-cleansing. Monthly periods are not there to clean out the vagina, but to shed the lining of the uterus which thickens in expectation of a fertilised egg. I suppose you could think of it this way, before girls have their periods their vaginas are not dirty, and also not after menopause.
