Adeno & ovaries???

Hi all... I have a very similar question to one already posted... I have adeno & fibroids... Waiting for my hyst (yet to be scheduled). Seeing my MDiety on Thursday (sorry... I'm kind of mad at her right now... seems to be ignoring my blinding pain... just handing out Vicodin... I need help!!!).

I am thinking I'd like to keep at least one ovary to avoid menopause for now... But will I still have to deal with the pain I've been suffering if I do???

Input from Princesses who had adeno would be very, very much appreciated!

Adeno & ovaries???

Hi Lisa
If you have adenomyosis, it will be removed along with your uterus. By definition adenomyosis is basically endo within the uterine muscle. So whether you keep an ovary or not is irrelevant.

If you have ENDO on the other hand, that is a different story. Keeping an ovary can cause endo to return.

Adeno & ovaries???

Hi Lisa

Adeno is generally "only" within the uterine walls. I had adeno and was going to keep both ovaries. The only reason my ovaries are history is because I'd been having some problems with cysts and had one burst 2 weeks before surgery. On the bright side, I've been on Vivelle-dot (HRT) since surgery and it has worked out wonderfully for me!

Good luck to you.

Adeno & ovaries???

Thanks Cat & Northlights for confirming what I suspected & hoped was true!

As far as I know, I have no endo... So my tentative plan is to have an LSH and keep my left ovary (I have a cyst on the right one). Seeing the gyne this Thursday to make plans and get on the schedule. The sooner this is over, the sooner I can start living a "normal" life!

I appreciate you!
Lisa
