Upcoming hysterectomy 6/25: Binders, mesh panties, what should I order?
Hello, I’m almost 5 weeks out. My hospital had me in a binder when I woke up in recovery. I wore it my whole 3 day hospital stay and the first few days at home. Moving was incredibly painful, and it helped a lot. Now I only wear it if I’m going for a short walk outside or doing some type of house work that includes bending over. It definitely makes you feel more stable. I’m going to order some support panties from Kohls here soon.

I had my pre op last Friday and asked about the binders as I had seen them on here. She advised against there use as the site where the stitches are needs to be exposed to air to enable the site to heal quickly . She also said that having a binder on would keep the wound warm which could potentially be a breeding ground for infections.
