Upcoming hysterectomy (LAVH) 7/11: out-patient surgery?

Hello all,
Im scheduled to have my LAVH on 7/11.
Im really worried as they will be taking my uterus, ovaries, tubes and cervix out. They will be doing this as a outpatient surgery and this is causing me some anxiety. Has anyone done this surgery as an outpatient ? How was your recovery?
Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Lavh

I had my surgery May 1st and it was outpatient. My surgery was at 8 am and by 1pm I was home in my own bed. I didn't have any complications and had a fairly easy recovery. I had divinci robotic surgery for adenomyosis and had adhesions removed. Only kept ovaries. Everything went well, and now 10 weeks post op I feel better than I have in 10 years. Good luck with your surgery and wishing you a speedy recovery

Re: Lavh

My experience is similar to jessimay's. I had surgery at 11:30 am (ovaries left, everything else removed) and was discharged around 3:30 pm. I felt pretty good, other than that being in the car made me a bit nauseated, and I had a super easy and quick recovery.

I was quite thrilled not to be stuck in the hospital overnight.

Re: Lavh

Had I had mine done earlier in the day I suspect I would have been home by 8 pm same day. Its not unreasonable if everything goes smoothly. Mine was later in the day so i went home next morning instead.

They may aim for outpatient but if your Dr doesn't feel you're ready, I'm sure they'd keep you overnight. Make plans for either so you can handle either scenario.

I would find the thread of LAVH experiences, it was very helpful to me in general. I also focused on the recovery threads and this folks who'd had LAVH's to get a rough idea how things went for them. No matter what you'll be similar but unique as well...we all are.

Re: Lavh

Hello All,
Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement.
I had my LAVH with BSO and Cervic removed yesterday. My doctor is truly an angel. I went to many doctors and all told me i was too high risk for hysterectomy . Im also a breast cancer survivor i had my lumpectomy in october 2017and radiation in december 2017.
All is going well better than i anticipated.
I had no problem getting up and walking or urinating.
I couldnt sleep much i woke up every 2 hours and walked back and forth and used the bathroom alot. i basically ate cracker and gingerale had some chicken soup for dinner.
Hopefully it gets better.
