Port install & 1st chemo over !!

Hello Sisters !!!

Just wanted to update everyone. Had my port installed yesterday. Surgery was at 10:45 and I was wheeled out of the hospital at 12:00 feeling good!

Then across the street for my first chemo session. I tolerated very well Taxol/Carbo. They even increased my drip rate a few times as i had no reaction or affects.

I have had IBS for years.....so last night at midnight up with the "runs" and nausea (all typical fo me for an IBS bought). Had 7 episodes - compared to 3 that i usually have. Took a Zofran pill which helped. Feeling o.k. today a bit tired, but not bad at all.

Going back to dr. today to get a shot to increase wbc.

Again, thanks for all of your support...........

Port install & 1st chemo over !!

Hi Lori, so glad to learn you had no problems with the port installation surgery and that your first chemo treatment went so well. I hope your treatment sessions continue to go smoothly and any possible nausea/"runs" aftermaths respond quickly to meds. Keeping you in thought and prayer.

Port install & 1st chemo over !!

Hi Lori,

I don't know you, but I've been reading your posts and am very proud of you. You have aggressively taken on everthing thrown at you. For the part of this process that is mental/spiritual, you get an A+. It'sounds like you have found a great doctor. I hope the rest of chemo treats you well and does its job.

Lori,

I am glad that your surgery for the port and the subsequent chemo went well. I will pray that the following chemos are just as easy and uneventful.

God Bless

Port install & 1st chemo over !!

Hi Lori,

Glad to hear all is well so far. My Doc is totally not for doing ports....but to be honest i wish i had had one!!! After 18 IV's in a 6 month span...not to mention the dozens i had in the hospital before that and all of the blood tests...I could have used one. I lived through it but it is Hell now for them to do my CA-125 tests...my veins have all gone into hiding....LOL. If ever i must do this again i will insist on a port. Good luck to you and God bless.

Sounds Good

You went through that port surgery with flying colors--and now any remaining cancer cells have found out you're the wrong person to hang out with--and they're exiting as fast as they can. You're on the way now!

It sounds like you are handling all this very well!!
Please don't be surprised if the next three days are not quite up to chemo day and the first day after. Those are the days most of us felt the yuckies.
Remember to keep pushing those fluids. Give those kidneys a good flushing. And take your zofran as prescribed, even if you do not feel nauseous.
Just think, you are 1/6th of the way toward finishing!!
