Re: Hello Upcoming hysterectomy (LAVH) on 27th July. (Worried/panic attacks; social worker called - normal for Canada?)

You got some great advice and hopefully the SW recommendation will help you get that private room. Just wanted to give you a couple words of encouragement. I have an anxiety disorder and I was nothing short of terrified to have this surgery, which was completely out of left field as I'd never had any issues until this cyst grew fast. I also was hellbent on having a private room, and I did get one (however I'm not in Canada). If I could make it through - and all the multitudes of women who are here sharing their stories - I have faith that you will too. The pain is not that bad. My suggestion is to just focus on the current moment as best you can.

I also am a dog person, I work at a rescue and have had to put that on hold which I didn't expect. So my heart is with you on that too. Because my surgery was scheduled so fast, I had no time to plan, and that was both good and bad, I was in a complete panic, but again I survived and all in all it wasn't that bad. You will be okay!

Thank you so much, they are positive words indeed. I keep telling myself these none stop panic attacks have to be worse than the surgery, my brain just needs to catch up to that. x
