Jennice i probably didn't catch you before you left. One sister recommended a little pillow over the tummy between tummy and seat belt. It softens any pain/cramping and reminds me to take it easy, too! I read somewhere that if it hurts to drive, turn around and go back home, wait a few days and try again! Good luck.

Re: silly things post op. I remember 'hopping' into bed last nite and thinking, ooops, I should be slllloooowwwwwllly getting into bed. I have tried to be really good because we only get one chance to heal up and we don't want to blow it. My daughter had to find a lot of rides the past two weeks when I couldn't drive!

Take care.....................E. Hope that plant wasn't over 20 pounds!

Relief,
I had a LSH. I was itchy before the surgery and also had other symptoms of pre menopause like insomnia, etc. Never had a hot flash or night sweats in my life. I am a little worried about that with the one ovary now, but doc says that one will act as 2. It really needed to go even though I cried when I woke drugged up and then fell back asleep. It looked bad. I have the photos and the video of my surgery. This guy is on point.
The itching is very minimal, but I am going to ask him about it friday. Might be a yeast infection. They did start an antibiotic iv before anesthesia. Antibiotics are instant infections for me. For as the moisture, it is not as wet, but so far no need to run get anything. Before surgery, sex was like sandpaper, that is y i was thinking early menopause. I talked to both my GYN's and both of them said "H*** TO THE NAW! that I was experiencing menopause. Anyone know anything about activa for the digestive system. I know that probiotics work pretty well with my IBS my gastro said. Then maybe, it wasn't IBS after all since I got the monster out of me.

Yes, elephan.
I did take my little pillow from the hospital and did what you said. My sister recommended that and she never had surgery or a child in her life. She is 3 yrs younger, but very protective. I didn't drive far and had my dad with me. I did feel a little pulling on the right side, but I am just icing that side now. It is hard to believe that I just have 2.5 wks left to go back to work. We work 10hr, 4 days in the summer. Wow, that will be a lot. They told me not to lift over 5lbs, but I am at day 13 and this was just this once.
Yeah, E I have just get in bed and ran down the steps by mistake a couple of days ago. I felt so good, I forgot.

Glad your trip went okay jennice41

Glad your driving trip went okay........i know what you mean about that pulling on the side feeling. I feel like I popped something today trying to get a door open from inside a building where I'd gone. Not all doors are handicapped accessible. It's tough. Ouch. Plus the doctor admired his handiwork so I'm spotting again. Oh, well, this too shall pass. Glad you had the pillow for the tummy! Hope you got a good rest. It's nice your parents come by and help out. Take care..............heal, heal, heal...........your sister should be a nurse! E.

I didn't know there were photos/videos made of surgeries! I might start a new thread to see if this is common. I wonder if a lot of people have photos/videos. Amazing!

El, so relieved on the path report.Take it easy with the new freedoms, it's hard to reel yourself back in once you get out of the gate.

Jennice,
I am so bad with the acronyms - what is the "S" in LSH? You actually have photos? Oh geez.... I have my operation notes and path report and thanks to my son being pre-vet, I was able to look up many of the terms or words I didn't know in his medical dictionary. Where you surprised at what you saw?

I am 43 and thought that I was heading toward my perimenopause - even prior to my recent fibroid issue. But my main problem turned out to be that my blood supply couldn't keep up with how fast the fibroids were growing and my anemia was out of control from hemorrhaging. Because of the rapid growth, I can only assume that my hormones are far from shutting off anytime soon.

Thanks Captain Crunch

I rewarded myself by upgrading today at hystersisters...... I've only walked 7 laps today bec. it's so hot/humid and I wish I could do more. You are right; i want to jump w/joy and can't. I remember doing a little jig in the parking lot on the way to my dad's car when he picked me up for the ride to the castle July 9th; I knew I wouldn't be able to dance or jump like that again for at least six weeks. Today I pushed the doc: can I play badminton? He's from another country/culture and looked at me quizzically... i basically answered my own qn: nope. But to be able to swim 10 min. a day....now that is a luxury. Thanks for writing. I will try to remember to take it slow. My belly is sore today from the internal exam he did and probably from driving and the high heat/humidity here in my area. Thus, I'm trying to remember to slow it down. Have a good evening all my sisters as you continue to heal. E.

I went to work this morning and after 3 hours a lady came to relieve me and said "Go home". I guess i kept holding my belly which I think is more habit than anything. Took me another hour to get out of there since a dozen people had "just a quick question". I think what bother me was that I was leaning forward from my chair to sort through papers. Right now I really want to run to Michaels but I am making myself lie down for a few hours first. My postop appointment is tomorrow, I'll post how it goes.

How in heck did you go to work after having a hysterectomy July 13? I mean, I went to a 1.5 hour meeting July 16 after my July 9 surgery and got yelled at by just about everyone.. even the president of my college looked at me in total astonishment. And I had a ride there, back and three iboprophen inside me. How on earth did you do that? Did your boss 'make you' come back? You don't have any sick leave? I feeeeeelllllllll so bad for you. I couldn't do it and I consider myself to be a pretty good workhorse, even if I am 55!
I hold my belly a lot, too. People must think I look weird. And my belly sticks out like I'm pregnant. Sigh. I have to remind myself to sit up straight: just did it at the computer. I am all slumped over protecting that big bump. You're telling me to take it easy, Capt. Crunch? Tell me you don't have to go to work again tomorrow! E.
