My surgery was August 13,2007. Yesterday I started to spot. My
belly is still big. I want to know when can I get back in my regular pants.

Hello ladies, what a wonderful website this is. Have certainly enjoyed everyone's stories and progress. Had a LAVH and bladder sling two weeks ago today. Am progressing relatively well but still have to take the super strength ibuprofen every day. Have a real sharp pain on my left side where they took my one ovary - every time I bend, literally takes my breath away. Can this be scar tissue forming? Anyone else experience this?

I know exactly what you mean...I am 12 days post op, went thru all my drawers and closets today, cannot fit in one pair of pants..I have a bunch of my regular size..some one size smaller and a few one size bigger...NOTHING fits....I can get them on but cannot close the fly enough to begin to zip.....I finally gave in, took my first trip since surgery to Target and bought a pair of maternity pants..LOL...they really don't look like maternity...they have just a little elastic on both sides.........I just pray my belly goes down at least somewhat...how am I going to go to work in 2 weeks if I don't fit into ANYTHING other than that everything else is great!!

Trick

Well, I thought I'd share this trick. Since I've been sitting on my duff in the hospital, my tookas got real sore. My husband had previously installed a big john toilet. Seat of it is hard. I got so tired of it, I came up with a simple solution. I took 4 self sticking maxi pads and stuck them to the top of the toilet seat for extra comfort. I wasn't going to need them anyway. I'm almost 14 days post op and they are still stuck on the seat.
It makes me chuckle to think after everything I've gone thru. This one thing could make me laugh as I watch my husband sit down on them. Hilarious!!

So, I got some padding and now the toilet seat is not so cold!

Day 13 post-op and wondering

Today, my incision is notably different. I noticed first thing this morning that the left side (which has been the most bothersome all along) is much more swollen than the right side - to the extent that it's apparent the touch and visually. Tonight, the entire thing feels like there is a hard lump under it -- moreso to the left side. Is anyone else experiencing this at about 2 weeks out? This was my first surgery, so I really don't know much about how the incision site changes during the healing process. Perhaps this is scar tissue forming?

Thanks in advance.

Hope everyone is well. Love the idea of softening up the toilet seat with maxi pads!

I have just about reached my limit. It has been 13 days and I can't stand sitting laying or walking around the looking at stuff out of place and not touching it. I feel really good still a little sore from my tah but not bad. never had any bleeding or discharge which is great . gas is gone.strips came off after 5 days which was as long as the nurse who put them on said they needed to stay. can't wait to soak in a bath after my post op on thursday. four more weeks of the is going to drive me nuts. I know why we are all up half the night it is because we sit around all day and still have a lot of energy.who can sleep with all that. hope you all feel this good soon.

Little Jewel, and Ann, I know just how you feel!!!!!! Today school starts for teachers and I won't be one. I don't think I could handle work and they can reach me by phone or computer to discuss any kids (I am a counselor) but in two more weeks I can't see why I just can't go in sit and take it easy at work for mabey two days??????I've had no bleeding or discharge, gas still at times i still have strips on I don't like the way my incision is healing, it seeems to have an extra flap of skin that is sticking out kind of looks like a tounge from what I can see. It never looked like this before for my sections when they used only stiches. This time I had staples. Ann,I to found a lump on my left side new the end of the incsion, and it has been itchy!!!!!!! Is it hot or impossible to touch, if so call the Dr. it is the first sign of an infection along with a fever. Thats what I keep on the outlook for. Petrina

Day 12 - oops

Hi all my hyster-sisters!

It's great to hear all the updates post-op but didn't see any this far into recovery.

I have no pain, just a little twinge now and then when I forget the Ibuprofen. I haven't taken the big guns meds since day three (I was hallucinating). I am still having weird dreams and sweats. Once my lone ovary kicks in doc says it will be okay.

My problem is hemorrhoids! Gak! I am using suppositories and that helps a little. You think I am sitting too much? Not walking enough?

Love to hear from anyone else that is around my time of recovery.

Hugs-
