Hi Ladies...

I am now 5 days post-op from my TVH, kept my ovaries. Surgery went great on the 23rd and was home on the 24th. Everything is going well, with the exception of being bored.

Today I finally am starting to feel a bit normal, the bloating is going away and only have some pain when I feel like my bladder is full. I just wish that my appetite would come back, it usually does after I stop the pain meds. I do try to eat something daily with water and am taking short walks around the house and outside. My kids have been a big help around the house as well, which I think helps!

I will be off for 4 weeks per the doctors instructions. Even though I do not do a strenuous job. Will keep you updated on how things are going.

Hi everyone!

I had an TAH - removal of Rt ovary/cervix/uterus on Friday Aug 24th. The only thing I can complain about is the 'swelly belly' - lower abdo only.

I was able to do a 25min walk on my elliptical on day 4 post-op which felt great. (I usually jog 25min daily -- so a nice easy walk 2.5kms is at least something and is keeping the blood flow moving!).

Coughing is not pleasant!!!! Nor is laughing so I am avoiding all my favourite TV shows until I can laugh without grabbing myself LOL

I hope everyone is doing well.

ok, so I don't know all the abbreviations and such! I had a total hyst on the 23rd...I am swollen like I might have been 9 months pregnant. Doc removed a lot of scar tissue (I had 3 c-sections prior)...and says my pathology reports are coming in normal...praise the Lord. I didn't get the cooling wrap for the belly, and wish I had. I get very hot...from the core, and wonder if I am flashing??!!! Get my staples out Thursday. I am overweight, and the belly fat pulling down on the abdomen is bothering me. I have a belly binder. Mostly I'm on Ibuprofen, but the soreness turns to aching, so I get my Darvocet out. Then, I have to "recover" because it is very narcotic to me!! I came home in 2 days.

The stool softener and prescribed gas medicine is SUCH a Godsend!! Things are going well. Now, I need to look up what to expect with all my plumbing missing!! lol

Today's Notes (Day 2 at home)
*Woke up at 1:30am couldn't get back to sleep, took another vicodin, fell back to sleep at 5:30am, awoke again 8:15 full bladder, stitches tight, going to bathroom and back to bed until my Peapod grocery delivery comes.
took Reliv, ferrous sulfate, ibuprofin, ducolac (sp)

*10:00 Peapod came and I asked the delivery guy to put bags on counter so I wouldn't have to bend down and he kindly did so. Put away groceries and ate applesauce.
**11:00 FINALLY A BOWEL MOVEMENT! Hallelujah, I swear that was my only real health goal for the day. Green like the ferrous sulfate
*2:00 Ate something solid and substantial (grilled cheese sandwich and bottled water). Rode elevator down to lobby of my building to get mail, put in work order (wouldn't you know my kitchen light would go out this week...wont be climbing up there myself to repair it as usual), and I got 3 bottles of water out the machine in the laundry room (forgot to order a jug from Peapod).
Washed and styled my hair (lost another clump) I'm loading up on water, this is ridiculous.
*2:45 Going down for a nap
**4:10 Woke up from nap. In bathroom...Lawd have mercy!!!Another bm!!
*5:00ish ibuprofen, docolace, bottle of water, an orange
**6:43pm I sneezed...**** THAT HURT! lol
*7:00 - 10:00ish blogging, responding to emails, painting tonails trying to continue to make myself feel 'womanly'...thinking about ordering a movie on On Demand

Tomorrow my sister is moving my car for me, co-worker who is going to sub in my classroom for me is coming over later with food I hope and my class schedule for the year (trying not to think about that stuff).

Tuesday Update

Kind of blah today. Slept a lot - having cramping and gas pains. I had my DD pick up some stool softeners and am hoping those will help. Had two very painful BM's last night/ this morning (still glad to have had any at all...even though they hurt).

I definitely had less energy than yesterday - I guess that's okay, though. Talked to a friend a few hours ago and found myself all teary for the first time since the surgery. Kind of weird - I couldn't pinpoint why I was crying, but I couldn't stop.

My office sent me a lovely Edible Arrangement and the timing was perfect. I'd had nothing but toast and applesauce all day, and the fresh fruit tasted like heaven.

Have to remind myself how crappy I felt one week ago (coming out of surgery). Each day will be easier.

Hope you are all doing well. Reading the many posts and comparing notes has been a blessing.

Ok, one week from today at this time I was going into surgery. TAH---everything went due to various reasons and family history. Don't quite know how I feel. I had 3 C-sections so the pain is about the same more pulling due to internal stiching. Staples came out monday and dr. said I was doing well No HRT becaue of family history. I just don't know what to expect........and everyone tells me how lucky I am no more periods, pain, and such. I do understand that but I get sick of hearing it. I do feel bored already......I am a school counselor and it is strange not to be going back on the 2nd. My DD is in my building an 8th graders and I will miss her. I hope that once I feel better and can get around I will love the time when the kids are gone and in school perhaps I will finish projects started before all of this!!!! Well its a bright sunny day in Jersey, and my friend is having one of those house parties and wants to me get out of the house and come over might be good. Hope to post later.......husband has the laptop at work all week.

11306 Day 5 Post --- Anyone else vitimans?

Had my TVH on Fri came home Sat All is going well No stiches on the out side so seems better than giving birth for me, as I was never offered anything for pain back then but as my 27 year old son would say that was a loonngg time ago!!! Also have a high tolerence for pain. I read today someone (ULE) painted HER toe nails ME TOO! My only problem is today I'm sneezing like crazy , wish I would have keep taking my allergy meds. My Dr. called last night and said besides the fibroids I also had adenomyosis. He said that probably was more of my problem than the fibroids were. He also told me to take vitiman C and E as they are healing. I was suprised but I am trying it ..... can't hurt!!! Hope everyone else out there is having a good recovery time I'm a very optimistic person I feel no matter how bad things get THEY HAVE TO GET BETTER!!!! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE OUT THERE : TVH ---52 years old---Brenda

Hello fellow Sisters!

I am a week out from my TAH/LSO. Had my 30 staples removed yesterday and am glad to have them out! I have 6 steri-strips on my belly. I also got to finally sleep for a few minutes on my tummy last night. It hurt a little bit but it did feel so good. I'm a side/belly sleeper so sleeping on my back has been different! I too am dealing with the swelly belly, slight pain and what feels like menstrual cramping. It is not too bad though. I've had no discharge or spotting what so ever - yippeee! I hope everyone is doing well and I too enjoy reading all of the posts.

Have a GREAT day!

progressing well

Day 8 of recovery...Aug. 21 had a LAVH....4 visible incisions (very small) ...everything removed. My post op visit is Sept.5...very nervous. I have concerns about post op prescriptions to replace hormones. Is blood work done to determine the appropriate meds or is it a "try this and let us know how you feel" approach?
