Hi everyone, Diamondsister here, I notice on all your replies you have location stated but not on mine. How did I miss that when I enrolled? I am typing from Rugby, England. Think of me on Thursday when I go for blood tests to make sure my liver is back to normal. It was inflammed after the infection post op 4 days. 14 days post op tomorrow - I am trying to rest when I can. Horseylover worried about you - remember that the muscles have all been cut and have to reheal back in the right place, thats why no lifting of anything heavy which will distort them and could cause hernia.
Has anyone else experienced food tasting strange? I'm not on any med apart from paracetamol - I could understand if I was still on antibiotics - any ideas?
Take care
Beverley

Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one, food has tasted very bland to me. I'm adding a lot moreseasoning then normal.

I had a frozen chicken dinner yesterday that in the past I have liked and it tasted bland and watery.

I've been craving cola drinks. This is weird since I haven't drank one since my first trip to the ER for heart palpitations,
they thought they were from caffeine, till they go my blood results back and my hemoglobin was 7. So, my friends have been bringing me a fountain drink.

Another weird thing is, I don't want breakfast type foods for breakfast. Craving more flavor, so I've been eating a salad or soup for breakfast. Sounds weeird, I know!

I have been craving weird things also. I usually don't care for cranberry juice cocktail. I drank it like it was going out of style in the hospital. The nurse asked me if I wanted her to bring a pitcher of it. No kidding! I am still craving it! Strange!

Called the Dr today about the stubborn flap. They said to come in and get a stitch or 2. That should take care of it. I am just happy that it isn't red and infected. It just needs to stay put so it can heal.

I was experiencing the night sweats until my Dr put me on progesterone (Prometrium). Maybe it is taking a bit of time to get in your system? Do patches take longer?

Much Needed Support - Found!!!

I am new here, and not really sure if I am even doing this right; however, I have to try. After reading the post op threads (my surgery was on 9/14), I feel like maybe I'm not going crazy after all.

A little background. I went for my yearly, and the doctor found an enlarged uterus and sent me for tests. The mass was discovered on August 1st, and I was in with a specialist two days later. Unfortunately, I suffer from graves disease and my thryroid (that had been in remission) decided to speed up - so the sugery was delayed for 6 weeks, to give the thyroid time to slow down with medication. Unfortunately, this gave me six more weeks to stress over this situation.

Surgery was on the 14th, and the doctor was supposed to take the mass/uterus/cervix, but decided to leave the cervix. Recovery hasn't been completely intolerable, but the night sweats are TERRIBLE, and the dull aching pains around the incision are pretty bad. My mass was on the left side, and below my ribs on the left side (I don't think there are any internal stitches there) it is very sore - almost bruised. My staples are out, and tonight I can finally get this mess wet in a shower - much awaited for!!

I am fortunate to have family here helping out, but I am going stir crazy. Feel like I should be able to do everything here, yet going from one room to another exhausts me. And, for whatever reason, I find myself getting sad for no reason. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for listening.

Had the full deal done on 9/13. Stayed with my wonderful mom for a few days after getting out of hospital and now I am home. It's going o.k., but I get tired and bored all at the same time. Normal I guess, but I don't like being alone all day. Some people act like I've won this great six week vacation and seem to resent me. Please!!! My belly is swollen, my incision hurts and itches and I can't do much. Yeah, having a great time...

Hi Zenobiadancer - had similar response people think it's great not having to do anything for 6 weeks - if only they knew how frustrating and painful it is. Hang in there!
