Hi Beverly,
Good to hear that you are feeling a little better .... and wearing the comfy pants. Me, I have 4 pair of flannel pjs that are my primary wardrobe - and my oversized "in & out burger" t-shirts .... lol No fashion statement here, but I can't take the elastic on my sweats, it is just too tight.

Hi Kathy,
Yesterday I started getting a throbbing type pain in the lower left (hip bone area). Really wierd, because it feels real similar to when I use to have the ovulation pain. I have my ovaries, but I won't do that anymore - right? Must be the stitches having a bad night/day. I did walk more yesterday than ever before, and haven't had but a few hours sleep in the last few days. Anyone else experience this wierd throbbing type pain that is isolated to the ovaries area?

Okay, we are all now officially one day closer to full recovery

Hi Mzmrizme,

Sorry to hear about your throbbing pain. It must be your stitches. Hopefully nothing bad happened to them. Maybe the walking irritated it too and has given you some pain. I hope it feels better soon. I think I may have irritated mine quite a bit this past week with the bleeding I experienced. However the bleeding seems to be slowing this morning again. I'm trying to take it easy. Hope you can take it easy too.

Hope everyone else is having a good day. It's sunny here so that always a bit more.

Good morning everyone. My surgery was on the 14th, so it is now 2 weeks and 2 days. I have been reading how so many of us have hurt when we pee and I was the same way a day after getting home from the hospital. It seemed to worsen and so my doctor wanted me to give them a sample to check and it was negative for a urinary tract infection, so we came to the conclusion that it was bladder spasms from the catheter and the retractor used to move my bladder during the surgery. However, the pain kept up and began to get worse and then I started bleeding. So I called the doctor again, (this was about 4 days later) and he had me go in for another specimen and this time they did detect a UTI. So now I am on antibiotics and the pain is a tiny bit less the second day into the medicine, but I am still bleeding when I pee. So I said all that to say this, be extra good to yourself and know that sometimes it takes a while for an infection to show itself. So please stay in contact with your doctors and if you are not feeling better when you pee after a few days, have them check you again. The Lord only knows we are going through plenty without having to add insult to injury. I truly hope that each and everyone of you have a better day today. I have every last one of my sisters in my thoughts and prayers today. Be kind to yourself and rest. I have had to tell myself that a thousand times because I think by now I should be able to go back to leaping tall buildings with a single bound, but I believe I have met my match. This surgery is exhausting, it is painful, and it was truly an eye opener for me. I love all you ladies. Have a blessed day.

I too am taking a small nap in the afternoon. I toss and turn at night. I mostly wake up uncomfortable or sweating.

My blurred vision is a result of nerve damage that is not correctable. I have been told that I will not get my vision back. If your vision is blurred I would go to an eye specialist as soon as possible. My optic nerve is swollen and I have been given medicine to reduce the pressure in my eye to get the swelling down but nothing can be done for the damage done to the nerves.

Take Care,

Well, I seem to have hit the "3 week wall." Starting yesterday, I have been just completely exhausted, my swelly belly is back a little, I am having twinges, back to urinating weird and I feel like crap. No fever or new pains, but I am back to feeling like I did the first week out, only without the benefit of the good drugs. This sucks. Is anyone else dealing with this?

I have my first post-op appointment tomorrow and am really hoping to feel better, since I have to drive 2.5 hours to get there and another 2.5 hours to get back and then have to go to work immediately afterwards.

Butterfly, I can relate. I also started feeling exhausted yesterday and feeling twinges and at times yesteday stabbing pain that took my breath away. Prior to yesterday I had a great week. I also feel extra emotional today, but I chalk that up to the exhaustion. Good luck.

2 weeks, 4 days

It's been 2 weeks and 4 days since my TAH/BSO, and I feel the best today that I've felt since my surgery. Fortunately, I haven't had much pain, or any of the other problems a lot of other sisters have had. I've only had 2 major complaints: not being able to sleep other than in the recliner or on my back in bed, and a stinging sensation when I have over-done things. I'm on the Estradiol patch, and haven't had any hot flashes, night sweats, etc., and don't think I have been too emotional, mainly just frustrated i can't do more.

The highlights: I finally fit back into a pair of "real" jeans, and was able to carefully turn over and sleep on my side for a while last night!

I went back to work this past Tuesday, and made it 6 hours before I came home. However, I was a hurting girl by the time I made the half-hour drive. Camped on the couch the rest of the afternoon and evening! After that, I decided I'd only work 4 hours the rest of the week....which lasted til Friday, when I worked 6 1/2. Fortunately, I didn't feel bad by the time I left work. I am hoping for a full 8 hours tomorrow, but we'll see. Had I known last week what I know now, I really think I would have given myself another week at home----less than 2 weeks between surgery and return to work might not have been the smartest thing I ever did!

I am so happy I found this board to share experiences with my "sisters". It's comforting to know that we share our experiences (good and bad!) with others, that we are not alone. Unfortunately, as understanding as our husbands/boyfriends try to be, they just don't get it like someone who's going through the post op situation does!

Thanks so much, everyone, for sharing your experiences!

I need to spend more time here

I checked in tonight because of I what I felt was set backs. Spent sometime reading everyones' post & now my symptoms make sense. Just to let you know where I'm at. I'm 2 days shy of the 3 week mark,
1st week felt like crud. 2nd week felt great except being tired. Only took pain meds twice & that was after attempting to be out & about. Then 3 days ago I strated having stabing pains & cramps off & on. I didn't have any bleeding or discharge what so ever until then even at that it's only been spotty & barely pink. I had aready planned to cut back (as much as you can with my 2dc) but now I feel better about that decision.
I think the hardest part for me so far is the mood swings mainly cause you can't expain that to my dc & I have to remind dh to take everything I say with a grain o salt right now.
Thanks for the reminders ladies.
