I haven't experienced the mood swings either. I think it might be because I am on progesterone (Prometrium). That is the only thing I can think of. I have a hot flash once every few days. It is nice not to have to deal with that along with everything else.

Hi ladies,
I am 3 weeks plus one day out from my TAH on 9/12/07. This week has actually been the hardest for me, cranky, aches and pains, bladder spasms when peeing and the urine leakage is driving me nuts. I finally had an emotional meltdown the other night, with visions of me smelling like an old folks home.

I have not passed any stitches that I know of, but I can definitely feel stuff moving around trying to settle in. I hope this is normal.

I have been doing a lot of walking, maybe too much. This week I have just felt like a MACK truck hit me. See the dr. next week, so have a lot of questions.

I think the uncomfortableness we feel when we pee is the bladder spasms.

It looks like all of us that are at the 3 week point are experiencing a lot of the same things. Thank goodness for this site, as I feel better knowing I am not alone.

Best wishes to all for a better week.

Hi everyone. I had my hyster on 9/12, so I just passed the three week mark. Physically, I feel like myself but I did not perform well at all this week. Even though I still have my ovaries, they must be fully asleep. I was just awful. I'm ashamed of myself. I yelled at an employee (who somewhat deserved it, but I never yell), I questioned my business partner's commitment and I was just a miserable person to be around all week. I really hit a nader yesterday. I've been calm all day today, so I'm hoping that means my body's a little more in sync, but I'm so mad at myself. Anyone else go through this? Looking forward, my entire next week will be spent in damage control.

Glad its over, first of all Please don't beat yourself up over this. Physically and emotionally, you have been through alot in recent weeks. If you are anything like me, you probably aren't sleeping or eating well, you have pain, and your hormones are out of whack. That will all cause frustration and irritability. Not to make excuses, but you simply are NOT yourself right now. Go to those you may have offended and talk with them. Make apologies and amends as best you can, and move on. Please take care of yourself, try to rest as much as you can, and remember... we are all in the same boat!

First update!

Hi all! This is my first post here, 3 weeks and a couple days after surgery! I'm so glad I found you all!

I've been doing great so far, but some unexpected pain in week three sent me to the internet. Was great to see that was normal in this stage.

I can't nap anymore, but have been going to bed pretty early this past week. I have found that walking around the block is my best solution for strange belly feelings...somehow it is a soothing activity! I have been using an abdominal binder since I came home from the hospital and have found I can't live without it. My swelly belly band came yesterday, and now I can't live without that!

Today I'm going to try teaching an hour (I teach orchestra) and see how that goes. I imagine I'll be wiped out!

My biggest fear right now is that I'll catch the stomach flu that my son and now husband caught! Has anyone been sick like that????
I'm afraid it would send me back to the hospital!

In answer to all the bladder issues, I have found that leaning forward when I pee really helps. I think I'm not emptying out my bladder enough sometimes, and when it's full, but I can't really feel it, (KWHIM?) that's when I get bladder pain. So leaning has really helped of late...

Hi All,

Welcome Jennypens, I'm glad you found this site, it's been great.

Okay, talk about weird dreams. I dreamed last night that I was talking to a dead person! Ended up in the police station and being questioned about it. How strange! It seem like it was going on forever, I glad I finally woke up.

I finally think I found an HRT that works. I started taking Enjuvia and yesterday my headaches so far are gone and had way less night sweats. I hope it continues.

I have been a lot more irritable then ever in my life before. My fuse is so short sometimes with my kids. I understand how you feel Glad it's Over! I have to try and make a real effort to think before I speak. I need to work on this one.

Thank you all for listening to all my venting. It's been over 3 weeks since surgery and nobody really wants to listen to you anymore. They have moved on I'm still a bit stuck in my recovery. I'm really going to miss my DH when he is gone next week.

Thank you all for your kindness and thoughts. It's a great help.

Feeling off balanced?

When I am walking or sitting upright i sometimes feel off balanced. Like things are shifting inside and my right side is heavier than my left. Is that crazy??? Like many of you I have also been really sore this week-especially my back. I thought I might have a kidney infection and went to the doc yesterday but they said all was fine.

3 weeks today

3 weeks today-hopefully at the half way point to being released to be "normal"
The past two nights I have been able to sleep thru the night without having to get up to pee! Well, I only seem to be able to sleep for 6-7hours but it's better than 2!
My bladder seems to be happier now too-seems to empty better and not painful anymore.
Only complaint I have is my head. After the ER visit the other night for an "optical migraine" my head feels like someone is squeezing it together-not really pain. A coke seems to help. I'm staring to think maybe the hormones might be the culprit????
Had "real clothes" on for the last 2 days, but still more comfy in gym pants and dads t-shirts!
Did some light house cleaning today and feel ok-just went thru the house and sprayed surfaces with glass cleaner and wiped. My friend has been coming over twice a week to vacuum for me so I feel very lucky for that!
Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Rae, my headaches have been hormones. I started a new hormone and haven't had a headache in two days. I hear caffine helps too. Hope you get some relief. Kathy
