I called MD this morning about continued bleeding. Nurse thinks I might be irritating stiches when I insert the Premarin Cream Applicator. Hopefully it will stop soon.

I have had the worse neck and shoulder pain. It started Saturday night, four days after surgery. Could that be gas? I'm thinking it is from laying around so much. I took a hot shower and got DH to rub it for me. I have had to go back on the precription pain meds for my neck and not my lower region.

MD also restiched my perinium to tightened things up. Man I hate those stiches! It looks as if I am getting a small hemeroid at the last stich. I am constantly sitting on ice packs.

Wow, I do feel okay though...I didn't mean to vent so much.

day 7

I get my staples out today. I'm afraid my insides are going to fall out because I am so swollen. They couldn't really do that could they? LOL I have been on an emotional roller coaster the last couple days. Could it be surgical menopause already? Or just post surgery stuff? My hubby went back to work today, probaly a good thing. He has been home all week with me. I'm afraid to even talk or I'll get myself into trouble. Nothing seems to come out of my mouth the way I mean it. Because my step daughter wouldn't take a shower yesterday (an all day ordeal) I ended up telling her she was spoiled and had her Daddy wraped around her finger. Everything seems to be magnified. I guess I should talk to the doctor about this. Well I'll stop ranting. Other than my wacky moods. I'm doing pretty good. Some hot flashes and get tired easy.

Doodlebee try drinking hot decaf tea and put a heating pad on your upper back for the gas pains. It worked for me when I had the laproscopy (sp?) last month.

You all take care

Home Again, Thank Goodness!

Had my SAH on Wednesday, Home Saturday morning...couldn't wait!...the nurses were great, but noisey at night. Surgery went well, the Morphine Pump made me sick, so I wasnt' eating until Thursday night and even then only liquids. Even Friday morning I couldn't eat much and by lunch it took over 2 hrs to eat 1 sandwich and a pudding cup! Anyhow, already had a bit of a BM so things are moving along. Not a lot of pain, but still taking pain meds in the morning and at night. I can usually not bother during the day. Still no appetite, but I'm sure that will come after things are flowing better. Gotta go now, time for a nap.

hysternutter, thank you for the reminder about drinking hot tea for the gas. I bought some before the surgery for this purpose but forgot about it. I am drinking some now..thanks so much!
Sheroze, the pain in your shoulder/neck very likely could be gas pains. I have the shoulder pain! Good luck!

Recovering from Surgery

Surgery was very sucessful. I had anticipated having pain but found that I have little to none. I was taking Lysine before the surgery, and I believe this has helped in my recovery going smoothly. Lysine plays a major role in calcium absorption; building muscle protein; recovering from surgery or sports injuries; and the body's production of hormones, enzymes, and antibodies. I had a trach placed down my throat during surgery, so my throat was pretty red and raw, I continued with the Lysine the day after the surgery and within a day the redness had begun to disappear. My surgery went well. I had a Laparoscopy Supracervical Hysterectomy. Only the Uterus was removed due to Fibroids within the uterine wall. I also had two large fibroids covering the top of my right ovary. All fibroids were removed and my ovaries were saved. Thank you Hystersisters for your advise and support. I am recovering better then expected and I am following all the Post-Op advise.

Home and Happy

My surgery was the 11th, I came home on Frday and am happy with the results overall. I am VERY SORE. It's hard to sit or lay down long, so getting comfortable is a big issue...pain level wasnt too bad overall, but on sat. ouuuuuuuuuuuch so much pain in my shoulder, the nurse I called said it was from gas buldup- moving around should help, and it has, very thankfully. My husband has been awesome in taking care of me, 2 sons came to visit, with beautiful dil and NEW grandbaby. Was so awesome to see her, hold her across my knees on a pillow just a little and see how perfect she is. 2 week old princess! I've had several bowel movements which were great sign of progress, very easy catheter removal and using bladder again, so overall very blessed with recovery to this point. Hope to post again soon with more progress. Its hard to sit long.

it could be the meds you are taking. I know mine say that headaches are a side affect. Not to mention the overall s tress of the surgery and recovering can trig headaches.

Dang, even after 24 hours of tee-teeing it still hurts so bad when I go.

bored to tears

Well I got my staples out yesterday and my insides did not fall out. They did tell me to get a girdle. Is or has anyone else used a girdle? I did some research online and a lot of sites say don't wear anything tight. I asked for a milder med than percocet because it was making me feel "out of it". They gave me fioricet and I am walking like a cave woman. I now regret not getting a refill on the percocet. I walk upright on percocet. I really hurt now. What is a good drug for this? What is everyone else taking? It's been 8 days since TAH/BOS. Yesterday my daughter took me to doc and shopping. Think I may of overdone it. I can't imagine laying around like this for another week. I can only watch so much tv and my butt gets sore when I try and sit to do my "umpteengazillions buttons" puzzle that was supposed to keep me busy. Think I may be getting a UTI or its just that I can feel everything because I'm not using the stronger pain med.

Thanks for all your support girls. One minute I'm okay and the next I'm thinking what have you done to yourself.
