After surgery, they did not return until a week ago, and the DREADED hot flahses/night sweats and extreme irritability has returned! Who wants to be on yet another drug and try to balance everything out which could take years. And I know everyone is different, etc. I think my doc mentioned using the Vivelle Dot patch, but didn't put me on it until I come in for my first postop which is Thursday to see if my hot flashes have returned. Since he removed one ovary, then maybe things are not working as they did pre-surgery (obviously) but you would think one good ovary would pump out some hormones, and I have no idea of the dosage. I guess my doc will have a clue, let's hope.

Please let me to the site to discuss this further. And thanks! I hope we get to lead normal lives one day. I feel very depressed and hopeless right now.

Hope everyone else is recoverying nicely
I will have to go on HRT in 5 months. Frankly, I am scared about it. I don't have a family history of breast cancer but I am still scared of it. I am looking into bioidentical HRT. I prefer not to take Premarin. One that I have looked closer at is Estrace. It is a bioidentical HTR that has been approved by the FDA. I am feeling overwhelmed about this whole thing. There are so many choices! I feel so clueless! I know there is a forum about this particular topic. I have been in there a couple of times.

Jen, are you having bad meno symptoms or have you been told specifically that you MUST go on HRT? My doctor advised that if I don't have any problems, I may never have to take any.

Where from in Louisiana??

My Dr is telling me that I can have all kinds of serious problems if I don't take them. Bone mass loss, hardening of the arteries, etc. My hubby said he wanted me to go on them when he heard that. At one point I had decided to stay off of them and just do a natural progesterone cream. But now I am planning on taking them. I just don't know what to do.

I was born in Jennings. I lived in Lake Arthur until I was 10 then we moved to Jennings. My mother and extended family still lives in that area.

Hi Jennifer and Lynn,
Just read your conversation about HRT. Jennifer is it because of your age 35? I am not really having any meno symptons and consultant said I may not need to go on HRT, he said meno symptons could take upto 6 months to develop, but may not. I asked about bone mass and he said bone mass does decline naturally, but it depends what density you start with. I will be seeing my dr this week and will ask for her advice. Also should be seeing my consultant for 6 wk check up and will ask him again. As you say I really don't want to be taking med if I really don't need to, as with all meds it takes a while to sort out the right doseage.

My niece is a Dr. and she said the HRT is okay as long as you keep getting your mammograms yearly and don't smoke. You have to take care of your body. I do a breast exam monthly while I am on HRT just to see if any differences or changes occur. The way I see things, any type of medicine or anything always has some sort of side affect, you just have to know your body so if changes occur then immediately contact the Dr. I don't know how long I will be on HRT but I know right now the hot flashes are still coming and hopefully when I hit the 50 mark they will all go away, which is in 3 years.

bcmusiclover, my Dr said absolutly no sex for 6 weeks. Everything I have read on this web site is consitant with that. I had a total, bladder repair and pelvic floor repair. I am 5 weeks out and still very sore. I have good days and bad. Still get really tired too. I was just talking to a friend and she said if you are still tired it is your body telling you that you still have some healing to do. So please gtake it easy, you only get once chance to heal properaly.

It may be because of my age. I need to write down some questions to ask my Dr when I go in 2 weeks. My mom had a hyst at age 33 because of endo. She was on HRT for 20 years. She never had any problems. She took Premarin.

About 5 days after my hyst I started having hot flashes and sleep problems. My hot flashes were coming several times an hour. I was miserable! When I started the progesterone, they reduced to maybe one a day.

I am 4 weeks into my recovery. You sound normal to me! I don't think I would risk sex at this point. I plan on waiting the full 6 weeks or maybe a couple extra depending on how I feel. You need to let yourself heal!

The has began to clear and I think I see a field ahead, could it be...?

I think it is!

A clearing from the woods, this actually means I am out of the woods. This is the first time since Surgery that I have felt the sun. I have been in the woods for 4 weeks and the sun from the field I am standing in is wonderful. I see bright blue sky and smell the Winter air brushing my face. Deep Breathe....

I am sore and achy but from the last 4 weeks, I feel so good I want to myself.

I called the doctor today to tell them I needed Diflucan, the nurse asked how I was and I told her that I had been a patient for the past 10 years, I haven't felt this good in 10 years.

She hoped I hadn't fooled myself into believing that am healed and I told her,"NO". I just believe the worst part is over.
