Almost 2 Weeks

Reading through other people's blogs I guess I could have had it much worse. My only problems were a hole in my bladder and catheter related and both were resolved. I came home from the hospital 14 pounds heavier because of the IV fluids, etc. and I've now lost 16. My incisions look better (I wish my bellybutton wasn't crusty). This morning I sang "All I want for Christmas is pubic hair" to my husband. He said any other time he would like the Brazilian look. I found out my headaches and bloody nose were probably caused by my spinal and that caffeine and Tylenol would help with that and a saline nasal spray would help my bloody nose and that has worked. If I am sitting and start to cough or sneeze I stretch my legs out and that makes my stomach hurt less. I still get tired. Even a nice long shower wears me out. It's amazing I had major surgery less than 2 weeks ago and had major organs removed and I feel this good. You find out who really cares about you when you go through something like this and with Thanksgiving coming most of us probably feel we have a lot to be thankful for!

I called my Dr. and they said to watch for chills or a temp...the discharge is probably due to me doing more than I have in a while...so you hit that right on the head...I had an excruciating headache and cramping yesterday so it was a miserable day...but today the headache is gone and the cramping is minimal...went for a short walk today and car ride with my hubby..nice to get out and see some scenery. Oh, the discharge is less today but still a bit foul smelling..so I'll just watch things. Thanks for your advice and happy healing!

I sure know how you feel....and sometimes I cry at the drop of a hat...and I still have my ovaries! I'm also feeling really warm most of the time...everyone else in the house is cool and I'm roasting. I thank you for mentioning the emotional side of all this. I don't feel so alone ...I'm glad you're feeling better and believe that this symptom will subside as well. It's a long road but we're not travelling alone!

Almost two weeks from surgery and started bleeding....

Hi Girls. It will be two weeks since my surgery on Tuesday. Up until now, besides the first day or two, I haven't had much bleeding. A little but not a lot. I noticed a bit more on days were I may have overdone it. Well, today I haven't been resting much. I feel ok, a slight backache, but nothing I can't handle. Well a liittle while ago I felt a small "gush". When i went to the bathroom I found my pantyliner was about half covered with bright red blood. I'm still bleeding some, but I wouldn't say a lot. But it is bright red. Should I be concerrned or is this all part of the healing process? Maybe I overdid it today, but I didn't think I was doing anymore than I have been the last couple days. Anyone else experrience this? Thanks for the responses, this site is my new favorite internet spot, its been so helpful! -Mindy

Last night was the worst since surgery. The pain was intense despite taking a pain pill and I was up until 3 a.m. I had to take a second pain pill at 3 a.m. even though it wasn't time yet. I've never had to take more than one at a time, and I haven't needed one in the middle of the night since I left the hospital over a week ago. Today the pain was still pretty bad. I was nauseous and didn't want to eat all day. First I was freezing cold. Now I'm feeling hot and sweaty. I keep taking my temp but it hasn't gotten over 100 yet, so I guess there is nothing to fear. I'm hoping this is just a little bump in the road to recovery.

Yes, I tend to get emotional too. Yesterday I cried when I read the birth announcements in the paper. Most of the time, I'm comfortable enough with that part of my life being behind me because I think I'm too old now anyway, but then when I see someone my age or older had a baby, well then it just hits me I'm not. And, of course, yesterday the local news chose to run a segment on the increasing amount of women over 40 who are having babies! Today one of our last decent neighbors moved away, and I was sad about that. I hate being the one left behind! My kids start to fight, and I start to cry.

I'm glad that most everyone seems to be making strides in their recovery. I am very thankful for all of you here and that we will all soon being feeling better.
