Anyone Else w/Bladder Sling Leaks?

I thought this would get better but it seems to be getting worse. Before my bladder sling I would have accidents sometimes when sneezing, laughing and tripping so thus the bladder sling. I noticed last week when I finally started peeing on my own my bladder didn't seem to empty and this week I pee, wipe, stand up and then drip all over the toilet seat or if I sit there I will have entire other pee. Anyone else experiencing this? I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE ANY MORE SURGERY!

Hi Sharon, I don't have a bladder sling but after my TAH on Nov. 8th, about 1 week after I started leaking from my vagina....clear fluid...a little at first and then it was soaking through a panti liner and then I had to resort to maxi pads again! I thought it might be urine but after spending a day in emerg with my gyne and tests..they determined that the top of my vagina was open and it was peritoneal fluid draining through my vagina. I'm exhausted and the fluid has slowed now and turned a deep yellow colour with some blood in it.
I certainly don't want more surgery either and I see my doctor on Friday for another check. Not sure if this is what you might be experiencing but thought I'd share it just in case..hope it clears up for you without surgery.
Big hugs,

Crap. The leakage does seem to be clear totally unlike urine. I also sneezed today and leaked. I didn't have to have a 2 week check-up because I had been there 4 times after my surgery because my bladder sprang a leak (the hole the catheter tube was in stretched and the incision started leaking urine). I guess maybe I should call. I was hoping this might be normal at first. The last place I want to go is the doctor's office again. My husband and I are going to be alone on Thanksgiving because I don't feel up to traveling out of state yet because of the dumb surgery!

Sharon, I had a bladder sling along with my TAH. I used to leak pretty bad and look out if I sneezed or coughed. Hasn't happened at all since the surgery. I had my 2 week post op appointments with both my gyn and urologist today and they said everything looked good. I don't think you should be dripping, but I think it's common to feel like your bladder isn't emptying completely when you first sit down. Have you asked your doc about it?

Tracy Ellen

Have you sneezed or coughed? Do you sit on the toilet a little longer than normal to be make sure your bladder is empty? Maybe I just have to give it time literally. The leak with the sneeze today made me crazy. I've read where women have had to go back for more surgery to get the sling loosened but just the word surgery makes me sick. I'm a little of a hypochondriac I guess (did I spell it right?)

Is A Bath Okay after only 2 weeks?

Did your doctor say you can take a bath after only 2 weeks? My surgeon almost had a heart attack when I asked if I could take a bath soon. He said I have to wait the full 6 weeks. I love long hot baths and don't really understand the idea of soaking on the creepy sitz bath 3 times a day as opposed to a lovely hot bubble bath soaking the same body parts!!!!!

Hi Jo,
I had a TVH 2 weeks ago and am have had a discharge that started off a pinky red and has now lessened to a yellow with some pink. I assume this is normal healing. Hopefully your discharge (which may be similiar?) is a sign that your vaginal cuff is closing and healing. Please let us know what the dr. says! I will be hoping and praying that everything is on trrack and healing well!
