Lightbulb - Hysterectomy dates Nov 05-Nov 12,2007 Scar-Does Anything Work??!!

Hi Everyone

For those of you who also have a vertical incision, are you doing anything to help with the healing of the scar?

I tried ScarZone with little success.

I am now using Mederma. It's early days yet, so I'm not seeing any real results.

Does anything really work?

Hope you are all having a nice morning.

I have not tried anything for my scar...it's quite red and raised but only put some moisture cream on it. I'm still sore around it too and have a hard spot beside it that is quite painful. Hopefully this will improve with time. Nice to hear from others who had their operation around the time I did. Have a great day!

Nov. 12th wk sisters/fat question

I have noticed my pooch has moved, have any of you experienced this. I had TAH/BSO, and I used to carry my pooch around where my incision now lives. So my pooch has decided to live above my incision. I do not like where it has moved, because now I am much more aware of it than before. It was easier to hide too. Anyone relate to this?

cidwolf,

Ah, the happy prozac pills. The really helped me with the menopause yucky stuff, for some reason they also seem to help with the hot flashes (could be in my head).

Rakkasah,

Have you tried a good vitamin e oil? Not the cheapy ones either, but at least 45000 iu? I have had luck with mix of jojoba and a good vit e oil (about half and half of each) I had to go to the health food store to get the good stuff and the jojoba. they told me the jojoba oil is similar to our natural sebum (???) and it feels better underneath my scars now. (I have had several incisions over the years and they are really close to each other, so alot of ropey tissue now) I have been using it for about a month and the scars are not so red and itchy now.

Hi there,

Thanks for the tip.

I'll give this Mederma a try and if it doesn't work, I'll try the Vit. E + Jojoba.

Do you mix it up and bottle it for use?

Hope this finds you well!

And Thanks again.

It's good to hear how everyone's doing. My energy level is back up, but the insomnia - difficulty falling asleep - is back. The hot flashes come mostly when I'm moving around or in the store with my coat on. Not terrible but it could get bad in the summer.

About 3 weeks ago I started to really ache in my knees, feet and one hip. I'm "fluffy" and my knees sometimes would hurt going up and down the stairs before surgery, but not all day like this. I found some posts that suggested it could be due to no estrogen. Has anyone else experienced this?

Maybe we can blame it on the vertical incision! Not the bikini line I was promised! :-) But that seems unlikely. I'll keep surfing around trying to find an explanation. Maybe something inside is still swollen and that's pressing against the stomach...?

MarrG...that sounds like a possibility....I have no idea why I'm nauseated...but my digestive system has not been right ever since the surgery. I go back to my surgeon on Tuesday so I will try and remember to ask him....Have a great weekend! Jo
