Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Nov 05-Nov 11,2012

If your hysterectomy was between Nov 05-Nov 11,2012 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Nov 05-Nov 11,2012

Hey everyone! Surgery was at 730 this morning. I have been in my room for about an hour. Still very tired and groggy but only a little uncomfortable in one of the areas. I hope that everyone does even half as well as I have so far!

I just got out and I feel great! Posting from my room on my iPad. Barely any pain, and I came out of anesthesia really fast... Half an hour! Didn't need abdominal after all, the laparoscopy worked just fine.

Hello

Welcome to your recovery thread. My name is Molly50 and I will be your hostess on this thread along with LaineyLane as your Sunshine Sister. This thread is for you to post your recovery progress and support other sisters who had their surgery in the same week as you.

You will have questions about gas, BM's , do's and don'ts ...no or or during recovery until your doctor releases you.

You may experience hormonal issues , feel tired or have aches and pains as well as bladder issues. Remember that it is okay to ask questions and we will often encourage you to call your

LaineyLane and I will be here to cheer you on as well as help guide you to other resources here at HysterSisters.

If you have specific questions or problems during recovery that you need help with, remember to post your question on the Recovery forum to get feedback from other sisters who are further along in their recovery.

I look foward to journeying with you and remember to PAMPER THE PRINCESS

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Nov 05-Nov 11,2012

Got to my room two hours ago after my tvh. I feel much better than I anticipated. The Dr. had me a little nervous about post op pain because I opted out of spinal against his advice, but the general must have worked well because I feel pretty decent. I'm on morphine which I'm sure is why. The staff is great and my room is very nice. The surgery went well and I got to keep both ovaries. I hope the rest of you are doing just as well!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Nov 05-Nov 11,2012

to your Recovery Thread, New Princesses!! You made it to the other side!! This thread has been set up for you all to come here update us on how your initial recovery is going. Remember, initial recovery is 2 to 8 weeks, with full recovery taking up to a year!!

My name is Helaine and along with our Hostess Molly50, we have been given the honor of helping you with your recovery!! I had my surgery in April 2012 so I'm pretty new at this. We will be doing our best to answer any questions you may have, point you to different areas on the website, and just hand out hugs when you need them.

This thread was a lifesaver for me. I remember feeling like I was the "only" one, but coming on here and reading posts from my same week sisters got me through. This surgery is definitely a journey but please remember it is YOUR journey and therefore very special. Each of us will heal uniquely as each of us has had unique surgeries to whatever our specific issues were. I encourage you to listen to your "heart" and not your "head", and give your body a chance to heal.

You will all have a lot of questions in the days coming up ahead. Many of you will be asking "is this normal?" Many will have questions about swelly belly Gas pains and bathroom issues
Many will notice some things happening with your emotions

These are all things that you will go through at some point in your recovery. But don't worry. Most of it is normal and everyone on this thread is going through it at the same time, together!

Remember, if you have questions about your recovery, you can start a new thread in the Post Op Forum to try to get some extra support from your sisters that are further along in their recovery.

A few things to remember.....

Drink Plenty of water
Walk around often
Don't try to be
This is your one chance to heal right the first time, so don't forget to

Get your rest!! You will need it.
Remember, this is not a race, recovery takes time so take it slow and you will do great!!! Just keep telling yourself that this is a marathon, not a sprint, so you need to pace yourself!!!

You will have pains and go through things you are not used to, but just remember...it is temporary. There is light at the end of the tunnel now and you are on your way to a better life!!!

Feel free to come here and with us about how you are doing in your recovery. This is a fun place to get to know those that are at the same place in this journey. It is also a great thread to help remind you that you are not alone!!

Again, welcome to the other side!!!!
Sending you all

Just over 12 hours post op after TAH. Can't believe I feel as good as I do. Drunk over 2 litres of water to flush catheter. (Make sure it's emptied when full or it can make your belly feel full and uncomfortable. ) Spinal was fab. Just on paracetamol oral and diclofenac p. r. Pain very well contained. Catheter out and up in the morning. Good luck to you all from the UK x x
