teecher- thanks for the suggestions I'll try them. Anything to help the itching. It's driving me nuts.

I'm going to try to drive next week in town as we live 20 minutes from any bigger towns to do anything actually in. Though in someways having hubby run errands is kind of fun. He was at the grocery store last night and called me on the cell phone and we shopped together that way. He said he had a number of women chuckling as they watched him go around the store.

I wouldn't say being a teacher isn't that strenuous, can't imagine having 20 to 30 little darlings at least every day (depending on the grade you teach). Not that I don't like/love kids but sometimes...especially with the holidays approaching. I know what my 2 are like right now.

thanx Kasey2. I might just call the gyno's office and see if they can help me out without necessarily going for another appointment. My DH has to drive me there and with his hours at work they are a little crazy plus it is an hour's drive there and back.

You are right that the gyno is the best one qualified to answer questions about this type of surgery and recovery.

11/15 TAH - kept ovaries....2 week sent to emerg at check up with shortness of breath - apparently can happen due to anesthesia! 12/6 back to MD to test for uti - got that too.......actually I could live with the abdominal / surgery issues - it's my neck and back that make it virtually impossible to sit/stand/lie down...by nighttime I am beside myself not knowing what to do and the more I think of the discomfort, the worse it gets! Have had only a couple of outings, can't sit at restaurant as my "woohoo" and "butt" get sore along with the back - --- there - enough venting for now!

I hadn't heard that aneshesia could cause shortness of breath. I've had this especially the last week. I had a TAH on 11/12

I had some shortness of breath when I started being a little more active. I just attributed it to being so sedentary - no steps, excercise, etc - for several days.

Yay, I'm not the only one with shortness of breath! The anesthesiologist had a terrible time getting the breathing tube down my throat and it was very bruised and cut up. When I woke up from surgery my respiratory system was having spasms and it was difficult to breathe.

I'm still having what I think are spasms of my diaphram. It's good to hear other people are going through the same thing!

TAH 11/15 - I haven't posted for a little while now. I was so impressed with myself yesterday. I cleaned out the refrigerator and freezer, went grocery shopping, made dinner, swept and mopped kitchen and did laundry. Today... I am trying to get up the energy to do anything! I think I am recovering slowly but well. My biggest concerns are nausea (although that is improving slowly also) and mental fog. I was thinking I would have a lot of time after surgery to devote to my studies for my bachelors degree but I can't concentrate well enough or for more than about 20 minutes. Anyone else having this? Last dr appt (11/30) my doc said I shouldn't be having the nausea or the mental fog still. He thinks maybe it is my HRT. I am using a patch. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Glad to see that everyone seems to be hanging in there. I am sure this will all be worth it for all of us once the recovery is over.

I have had some discharge also, can actually feel it coming out--like when I was having a period--yellowish in color. Is anyone else having pain after urinating? This has become much worse for me in the past two days, to the point of tears. It's not the same kind of pain that comes with a uti, but strong abdominal pain from the let-down. My abdomen is sore to the touch, too. I'm so frustrated right now. I just want to feel normal again!!!

Riverbank- Call your GYNO to get some advice. Not sure about the yellow discharge. I know I am getting brownish discharge and figure it is part of the healing but the pain urinating and the abdomen pain is a little concerning.

I am wondering if it is a bladder infection but I would contact someone if the pain is that bad.
