Spiceflower, I'm so sorry you're going through all these issues. Sounds like your husband feels kind of helpless and I know my husband doesn't seem very understanding at times, it's because they don't know what to do to fix it.
You said you have a hormone patch. Which hormone is that? Did you notice a big difference before and after having this patch? I hope you get the kind of help that you need.
On a hormonal note, I am wondering how others are doing. I only turned 40 a few months ago, but I am having major hot flashes. (I only had one ovary removed with my TAVH). I'm going to the doctor on friday and I am hoping to talk about some options. Any suggestions? I printed out the checklist on this site about hormonal "reactions" and I highlighted the ones I experience and I will show it to my doctor.
Hope everyone had a great Easter!! Take care

emt-I try to think that my husband's lack of empathy is just because he doesn't know what to do- to make myself feel better- but I'm not ready to give him that much credit right now- after the tah I told him I wanted him to be more thoughtful etc. and we had a very tearful pitiful discussion that we weren't able to resolve before I had to hurry and have this next procedure- so- I just try to be direct about what I need in terms that even a caveman could understand and hope he helps.
I had my lap on 3/17 and was told to put on the patch on 3/18, and I did and I haven't noticed any hormonal changes at all- which is good- no night sweats or anything- just a little trouble getting to sleep which is not that abnormal. It stayed on, it wasn't hard to remember to change it today- but it did have this yucky little ring around the edges where my clothes rubbed on it and there was a visible lint ring. I really haven't had enough experience with the whole thing long enough to give a good opinion-I'm just starting the whole menopause thing. Good luck!

Well I just heard back from my Gyn - she feels (or so I hear from her nurse) that I need the laproscopic surgery but if I want a second opinion she offered 3 MDs in the Dallas area. The best part is that she had her nurse recommend some she had worked with at her last hospital - I would think that these doctors speak to one another about situations they encounter at least at conferences etc but apparently she is just ready to hand me off to someone she doesn't even know if I don't want her to do the surgery. I sit here in misery feeling like I've just been tossed out with the dirty bath water - think I need to cry (again) tonite!

Sounds frustrating! Do you want her to do the surgery? It might be better to go to someone with more experience even if you don't know them personally. It never hurts to have a second opinion. I work at a medical clinic at a hospital and it always amazes me how different doctors can have different opinions about the same things. Go with your own instinct. I hope everything goes well whatever you decide.

So, what would the lap be FOR? What exactly does she think it is, or it the lap to see what's going on? Did you ask for names for a second opinion? How did that happen? I don't know if I was just naive or what but I just trusted my obgyn to be the one to do the surgery- I never even thought about questioning it- she was my doc and that was that.
When she said I had fluid in my abdomen she did give me the option of taking antibiotics and waiting- but I asked her what she would do if it was her body in this situation and she said she'd do the lap- and I'm glad I did because it wouldn't have been resolved with meds and I would've just spent more time miserable. I hope you find the answers and some relief! If you need to cry just let it out-there's no shame in crying your brains out we all do it!!

She thinks it's a prolapsesd fallopian tube - I also think I have adhesions based on how I feel and everything I'm reading. I don't have a problem with having the lap - I need relief. My problem is that she doesn't seem to have alot of experience with any of the "setbacks" I have brought her way so I want to see someone with more gyn and less ob heavy experience. The names for referrals were given to me by her nurse (the nurse's recommendations - not the doctor's). I had trusted her in the past and believe me, would rather stick with someone who's been in this with me for the past 3 years, but her lack of experience and seeming lack of interest in researching anything with anyone has me really disappointed. I have now booked consults with 3 doctors and will hopefully get this resolved sooner than later. Worst thing is you never know what you're gonna get until it's all done - you have to trust your instinct I suppose

Okay, I get it. My doctor didn't really know for sure what it could be- she was suspecting something to do with my cuff- maybe my infection never really went away, something like that- but she knew that having fluid in there wasn't good and that we needed to do something about it. But it could've been all kinds of things, you don't really know for sure until you go in there. Good luck! I hope the consults go well and that you find the answers and get it all resolved and feel better soon! I'm getting there!

Hi teecher,

You go girl. It is what is in our heads and hearts that makes us the women that we are and that is what I have learned from this journey.

Hi teecher,

The intimacy thing will get better. Look in the mirror and own the fabulous that is in you. I am fabulous, therefore I am sexy to my spouse. Be sexy to yourself first, then be sexy to your spouse. My husband and I tried KY Silky on Friday and Saturday night. Need I say more. Intimacy is a total blessing. Own it in your mind first. I just want to let you know that it is scary, but you are the same woman that you were before the operation. I love intimacy so much more now than before, because I was experiencing pain during intimacy prior to the operation. Just pray about it and everything will definitely work out for you.

How is your scar looking?

I have the vertical incision scar. It is smoothing out and not so bumpy and it has a weird tan color. It is still VERY noticeable (sp?).

What do others look like these days?
