Hi, I was feeling fantastic, flew to Ontario to visit family, drove all over the place, walked allot, felt great. This week I felt great too until the day after a tough soccer practice and BOOM swelly belly that is slightly tender with a few twinges as well. I hope it is nothing permanent. I called the doctor and he said relax for 24 hours and then call if it doesn't get better. I guess I have to call! It is very swelly Do I have to have a check up before sex???

vanark, my doc released me for sex at just four weeks and that was without doing any internal check. It's worked out okay for me, but I wouldn't recommend that doc to a friend. He was way too casual. What does he care if I do damage? He'd get more money doing repair work! I'd be the one stuck recuperating all over again.

Oh yeah, vanark, I gew up on Vancouver Island. Took my kids up there to visit for the first time two summers ago. It was their very favorite vacation, and we lived in Europe for eight years! Gotta love British Columbia!

Someone asked about bladder lift a few days ago- I had a vag sling (I picture my bladder hanging out in a hammock on vacation) and I'm disappointed with the results. I'm still leaking.

Oddly enough I didn't leak right after the surgery. It started up again at about 3 weeks. At four weeks, the doc said it might tighten up and get better with continued healing. I hope so!!!

I'm also hoping my "staying ability" will improve too. I can't go long without a potty and when I gotta go, I gotta go!

My sis and I went on an outing with eight other women. She and I stopped to use the potty twice and none of the other ladies did at all. She had a hysterectomy in December, so we're hoping it's something that we'll get over.

This is why we both invested in R.V.s- can't camp with bladders like ours without hauling our own potties along!

6 week check up

HI
I went to my 6 week check up. I am still spotting a little and now after the check up I have cramps. To top it off the Doc said no sex for another 2 weeks! Wow I thought the 6 weeks took forever, now I am blessed with two more weeks of wait! So you may want to wait till after your appointment to get the ok from the doc to have sex. I am sure all will be ok. There are only a few from what I have read that had to wait longer. The check up did not hurt a bit. Well take care everyone.
Two more weeks is not a life time!

Hi all..
Just got back from my 6 wk check (well 5 1/2 if you want to get technical). My physician said the swelling in our bellies is very normal. It is edema from the surgery and having our muscles disturbed. He also said that constipation/diarrhea is also normal, as we have been thru anesthesia/pain meds and been sedintary. I told him that I was blessed to have a physician that would connect all of these things to the surgery, as some of you girls have physicians that have not. He said all in good time and with the more normal activity that our weight should balance out, our BM's become more normal and the swelly belly will eventually go away..... AMEN. In the meantime, it is bigger pants and flowing skirts for work. I start my new career on Monday, so here goes creative dressing 101. Looks like Saturday is going to be closet day and or shopping day.

I have been "ok'd" to get back to a normal live, but was told to ease into it. I can Jazzercise and even ride my Harley if I feel comfortable doing so by next week. However, common sense is telling me to wait a while on the bike riding.

I hope all of you are healing as well as I have. If you aren't know that every week it gets better. I will have to check in as my normal life returns and hopefully I will have the same positive attitude and outcomes.

Feeling pretty good

Hello all....Had a TLH (kept ovaries) on 4/7 and was home the next night. Surgery went well, pain meds worked great and hospital treated me like a queen. Am so glad it is over and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

I know that the laproscopic hysterectomy is not for everyone, but for me, it was fantastic. I had a tilted uterus (it was HUGE) and right away I noticed that my chronic back pain was gone! I am 34 years old and can't wait to see how this surgery will impact my life in great ways. I wish all of you speedy recoveries and pain free days. God bless all of you.

wow..we're quiet today

Just a note to say that I drove 6 hours by myself on Thurs to spend the weekend with my daughter and her family. I'm having a great time with the 3 grands and even had a visit with a friend as I used to live here!
The drive was tough even tho I stopped every hour and a half. That stupid bladder spasm or adhesion or whatever is still driving me nutty, but the idea of lymphedema (SP?) is making more and more sense for the sensitivity stuff.
Today we're making a couple of baby blankets that we call Nanny/Granny blankets because my mother started to make them years ago and we call her Granny. I'm Nanny. We even had special tags made but of course I forgot to bring any. We're making one for a baby shower this afternoon and one for the daycare where the youngest grand goes. The kids love them to make "tents" etc.
All in all, the trip was tiring but I"m here..and have to drive back home tomorrow so I can teach on Monday..now THAT will be the tough one!
I'm guessing that the weather is great everywhere and everyone is out there planting, and raking..or just getting some sun! Joan

Anyhow i saved one pain pill to take for that visit and used my cream to numb up just in case, it went quick he said looked good and start living my life-like i havent been trying that for 35 years now LOL..any other pains i have to see someone else his part in the gyn department is done i can come back in a year..But i have endo specialist name i'm gonna check out and keep on top of things..Did have some cramping for a bit. Trying to keep myself moving.but belly still swells pretty quick and big being on my feet to long.Cant wait for that too go away..Still have the bladder spasms too and a little dificult still to pee more towards the end sometimes i fell like leaving a little left since it makes me feel better then being completely empty.Wanted to smack up the nurse at the docs office for a minute but thats another story. Been over a week since no hormones still feel much better w/o but i have them just in case. Hoping to wear some decent clothes SOON, cant bear it anymore. Had my DD and her BF drive me too see my niece that was nice. Got out of shower yesterday and couldnt take my hair growing diiferent lengths all over so cut it myself!! Came out cute..trying to work on the memory thing feel like the brain is slowing down, not finishing sentences kids crack up glad i can entertain them. It has been very quiet in here makes me a little sad. I guess everyone getting back to life, hope everyone doesnt stop writing that still keeps my days going.Doc said good to go on everything, but in my mind i know what i am good on. Cleared for sex...but havent quite got that desire yet, keep trying to have a talk with her and tell her shes ok, but shes still hesitiant LOL must be the Trauma haha guess shes just not ready either..My pup is getting better, gonna try and work next week see how that goes, my office is more depressing than home hmm..I hope you enjoy your trip. Glad to see everyone is feeling and doing better, those in their jeans sooo jealous!!!!!! i just keep looking at mine havent lost a pound..Enjoy the weekend and thanks to all for keeping me semi-together with your posts in the recovery department never felt alone in here..hugges and kisses to all..For those still struggling keep your heads up mine is up there with you.
