Sweetpea asked,
  Quote:
Sooo NoMoPro whats your secret???
I spoke too soon, that's what!

I wrote before finding out that someone in our congregation died, someone had a baby and another one lost a baby- all yesterday! (And another starts chemo next week.)

And of course the lady that is over our "compassionate service" (arranging for meals to be taken in, etc.) as well as several of our other stalwarts are all heading out of town for a women's conference. So we've three or four families to provide meals for as well as a funeral luncheon to make and serve for 125 or more people. It of course doesn't help that I have out-of-town company arriving this evening and this is my hospice volunteer day!

By 4 p.m. yesterday I felt WIPED OUT and overwhelmed. I persevered though and took my daughter to the musical presentation I had promised to and after sitting there for an hour, resting and being spiritually fed, I could go home and tackle more laundry, phone calls, etc.

The frustrating part is that I don't have time to for myself to work out when life gets like this. I don't like it when it gets too busy for me to take care of myself! If I can take time every morning for scriptures, prayer and exercise, I can keep it all together.

As to your question though, Sweetpea, I kept my ovaries and they seem to be functioning just fine. I think this makes a night and day difference on recovery time. Those of you who didn't, have soooo much more that your bodies (and families)are going through. Hang in there, y'all!

NoMorePro, you sound like you're in relief society. lol so sorry you have so much "stuff". when it rains, it pours, huh? like they say, "this too shall pass". good luck to you.

I have to admit I'm also feeling great. I'm back to my old routine and I'm loving it. I feel blessed!

Yes, Daxlou, that's where I am. We can't complain though. It's been very quiet for some time. Not much going on since the other counselor and I had our surgeries within a day of each other. (Mean thing to do to the president, eh?) But next year, I'M going to Women's Conference!!!

Hooray Hooray..it's almost the First of May...and I rode a horse today..first time in 8 weeks! on my 8 week anniversary of the surgery as a matter of fact. I didn't ride my wild beast but a friend's semi retired polo pony..a big tall thoroughbred who has "been there, done that" and shouldn't spook at anything. But she did..a dried up mud puddle! funny old girl. I may pay for this tomorrow but it sure felt good! LIke I'm almost human again.
woo hoo!!! Joan

Jumping on the bladder bandwagon

Hi ladies,

I haven't posted on this thread but I've been "lurking." I thought I'd pipe up about the bladder stuff. Maybe my story will make everyone feel better about their bladders (I hope it doesn't make anyone feel worse).

I have had NO return of bladder function since my LAVH (done by one of the top endo specialists in the country). I've had to straight cath myself every 3-4 hours (after having a cath for the first week post-op). I have been seeing a lovely uro-gyn who finally called me today and said he's referring me to a uro because he can't do anything more for me. I had uro-dynamics testing done two weeks ago that showed that the nerves to my bladder weren't functioning (same nerves that control bowel function too so you can imagine how that's going). Today my uro-gyn said if the plumbing wasn't working by now it probably won't start to work again. I have awful bladder spasms and pelvic floor spasms.

I called the uro's office today, she's booking into September! OMG NO! I can't live like this. I'm waiting to hear back if they can squeeze me in earlier.

I returned to work last week and practically have to crawl home at the end of the day because the spasms are so bad (think of a Charlie horse between your legs).

Just so my life is as insane as possible- we're leaving for Disney World in just over a week!

Sorry this is so long, but for those of you suffering with bladder problems- I really feel for you.
Best Wishes,
Gigi

Oh Gigi!

That is truly awful news! We'll be praying for a miracle so that you can regain the function.

In the meantime, go to Forums and you'll find a thread specifically on bladder issues and another on hysterectomy complications- either one or the other will surely link you up with someone who has experienced something similar. I hope they have some helpful advice to offer.

I can't believe you've gone back to work under these conditions, and Disney World?! Can it be postponed?!!!

Best wishes!

Gigi,
My heart goes out to you. MoMoPro is right about the thread on bladder issues. So many women have had a varying degree of bladder problems associated with this surgery that I'm sure you'll find someone there that can relate and maybe provide some info for you. I think I'd pass on Disney too. Maybe the fam could go without you and you could stay home alone. That would be the real vacation! Peace and quiet and only yourself to take care of. Gigi, don't forget to take up all your well-meaning friends' offers of "if you need anything, just call". They really mean it. Please take care of yourself.

Oh Gigi...I will keep my fingers crossed that you get into that specialist much quicker than you thought. I know that all the specialists are always booked waaaay into the future but yours is a special case so I would do a lot of calling..your doc ought to push the issue too.
My thoughts are with you. Joan

The urologist's office called today and they can see me tomorrow afternoon! Then my wonderful nurse practitioner called from my primary's office and was able to sort out some medication things.

I know there's no miracle cure for this. Every time I go to a doctors appointment I get my hopes up that I'll leave with all the plumbing fixed. Hopefully this will at least start the process.
