Yahoo!!! Congratulations, Joan. I imagine you've lost some of your inner thigh muscle tone by now. Hope you aren't too sore tomorrow!

Hi all
I have been hitting the gym pretty regularly now for two weeks. Two Mondays ago, everything was pretty easy except the ab work. I didn't do anymore of that until this past Monday. Boy, the difference a week makes. The crunches were still uncomfortable, but so much better than last week.

I think I know what that tightening in my surgical area is. I notice it when I pee mostly. Must just be my bladder. It's not bad, just something I notice.

I am still dealing with numbness/swelling around my incision. That is so irritating. But definitely nothing to complain about!

Weekend's almost here! Have a great one!

gigi, please know that you will be in my prayers tomorrow. I was so happy to see your post about having the appt! I have not had any problems in that area, just a few with the bm's.
Sorry for the delay in my postings, I've been laying low for awhile. I had a bit of a set back, but I'm feeling better now. My incision had gotten a few infections, but thankfully, I have been taken off the antibiotics for good now.
I had been given another wk off by the surgeon, so May 5th will be my first day back to work. I will be on half days for the first wk or so, to see how it goes. I'm kind of torn with my feelings about returning. Of course, the bills are calling, so the NEED to get back to work is there. I'm just in a bit of fear that it will be the same 'ole thing, where everything will quickly be dumped in my lap. I think tho, during my absence, I've become stronger to not allow that to happen...so when it does...I will somehow politely inform them that I will not cover up for their laziness any longer. Too bad I'm still a bit too young to retire!
On the nicer days we've had lately, I've gone on long walks on my street, and when I sit down, I use the heating pad on my tummy. This seems to have helped in my incision healing. It still is so very tender, and just every once in a while, I get those grabbing type pains.
Just like a student after summer is over, now I have to get back in gear with my sleeping habits. For the last few wks, I've had a hard time getting sleepy, and not zonking off till about 2-3am. That's not going to work, when I have to start back to work by 7am!
I will post again on Monday, and let you know how my day went.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
xo Joanie

pain 9 weeks post op

My TAH was on March 5 for 14cm fibroid and I thought it was a picnic. After 4 weeks of feeling ok, the abdominal pain started. At six wk checkup, DR said it was part of the healing. As time goes on, the pain keeps getting worse- seems to be entire abdomen, sometimes like a knife stabbing, other times just a really heavy feeling with pressure. Any ideas?

I wonder if the 6 etc week ouchies are more related to bowels and bladder than any missing repro parts? Joan

oops...got bumped offline....and I also wonder why they don't tell us these things upfront. I doubt that we would decide to NOT have the surgery, and it would really be helpful to know a lot of this stuff that we're talking about among ourselves. Certainly I wouldnt give up my HS experience..I really enjoy everyone's posts..but if they TOLD us at last we'd know and not be quite to worried...we can still complain like mad!!!
Update..not much...same issues..just fading a tad but I MUST remember my fiber or I'm in trouble. Joan again

Joan, I couldn't agree with you more. I really didn't have a choice on the surgery, but it sure would have been nice to know ahead of time about the bladder and bowel issues. The only time I heard about swelly belly was here! My first 3/4 weeks after surgery were a breeze! I thought I had avoided all those bothersome issues everyone else had. I was the lucky one. Maybe I went back to work too soon, but that's already done. I certainly didn't think that eight weeks out I would still have these side effects. I'm so grateful to this site so I can better gauge what is "normal". We should have gotten a chart or something from our doctors.
I had a full day yesterday. DH & I went down to my daughter's cottage and did spring clean-up. He did the yard, I went inside and did a few windows. Then we went shopping downstate for groceries, back in time to go to a friends 50th birthday party. I love my friend dearly, but his party wasn't very fun for me. One of those parties where everyone stands and chats with drinks and plates of food. With my bladder issues, I'm afraid to drink anything carbonated or with alcohol or with caffeine. After a long day on my feet, my stomach started to swell! I had my jacket folded over my arm to mask the huge thing, everyone thought I was getting ready to leave! Well, we did leave early. Home to put up my feet. Grrrrr.....I'm so ready to be finished with this. How much longer?

I didn't have any choice about the surgery either..it's cancer so it's gotta go. I just tunred 61 so the loss of those girlie parts is not a big deal, and furthermore I was thru menopause so I guess I'm not having the hormone issues either. The only thing I have to worry about is how my facial hair is really growing! I do think a chart would have been really helpful. I'm going to guess that the docs don't dare to put much in writing because of our totally litigious society. "Gotta sue because the chart says I can do this in week 5 and it cause....." etc.
I've thought of sooo many things that I could tell my surgeon that would have made my experience less stressful..but I doubt that he would listen. He can do 9 or 12 of these robotic hysterectomies a week..they become pretty ** hum to him...even tho of course he says they don't. Mine was totally routine..no surprises..so I must have been a very boring case to him. Not to me tho..this will be my only hysterectomy! the surprises were all for me..not for him.
On a high note, I can now actually wear some of my pants! tada! Joan
