Cats on tummy during recovery WHY?

My cat always found the most tender spot to step, and yes the happy claw thing. I only have 1 dog but he is massive, at the time of my surgery an 8 month old, 130 lb Newfoundland. He also has a great way of coming partially on my bed (he isn't allowed to take all 4 feet off the ground) he always managed to basically I pale me with at least one paw. I can tell you from experience be very careful walking the dogs. I didn't start walking him again until about 3 months post op and it still hurt when he pulled. But I had pulled a muscle lifting something that was only slightly above the weight limit and that was horribly painful.
