And then there was a tumor

My first mammogram was a couple weeks ago and I seem to have won the boobie prize because they found a malignant tumor. I am so blessed that it is small and early in this whole thing. But I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact I have breast cancer. I feel kind of numb to it. I don’t know what to say other than this thing is not about to kill me because there is no freakin way I’m going without a fight. Plus it’s really not likely to, but still, I have cancer.

I meet my surgeon Tuesday and that will put more of the treatment plan together. I’m not sure what else to do except keep living and getting done what needs to be done as it comes up.

I’m definitely spending a lot of quality time talking with God about all of this and I’m have fear, but don’t totally feel scared. I’m not sure. I really think it’s all just still sinking in.

Re: And then there was a tumor

Sis,

Yup I am still around. I am so sorry to hear you have a new issue to deal with. It does sound like you are going at it straight forward and from my point of view that is the best way. If you want to keep posting on this thread I will now get a notice of it and will be here for you. I have no experience with this type of surgery or issue but will be happy to be here with you to listen.

Sister Hugs,
Anndy

And then there was a tumor

Thanks!! Had my surgical consult today. Looking like a lumpectomy fortunately. I’m starting to feel like I’m losing parts of my body every couple years. It’s so crazy though. God is in control. I’m here for this ride, but man cancer is messing with my head.

(((SoDoneWithIt)))

We're very sorry to hear of your diagnosis. We do have some members with a breast cancer diagnosis and so hope they'll be along at some point to share.

Have you found the stickied thread at the top of the forum which links to our Breast Health Articles? Hopefully, they'll prove helpful in the meantime.

The word "cancer" is scary for sure! And, yes - it really does mess with our heads and become all we think about. But we need to trust in our medical team and know we're receiving the very best of care. One day at a time!

Will you keep us updated? We're sending best wishes and positive thoughts!

Absolutely! I am so blessed with the doctors coming into my life right now. And I’m grateful to have gone through my ordeal with my hysterectomy first before this craziness. It’s all so crazy.
