Anyone else out there requesting photos of uterus/junk?

Hi ladies,
DTracyZ, I can just see it now. I come home with a jar, with my uterus in it. My son would have it chopped apart and his little microscope out!! ROFL He would be 'explaining everything' to me in little gory details. Maybe when they do the lobotomy my hubby keeps joking about me having, they can store both my jars in with the canning I have done......

Oh I have to agree with you there Tracey and Kat! But I have read where ladies have taken their uterus home for a ceremonial burial with their children helping in this process.

I respect their views but I really have no attachment AT ALL to my mothers uterus (UGH!) If I did this my family would think I was just too weird. And the family dog would probably dig it up the next day.

My doc took pics at one of my laps, and gave them to me. One entire sheet of pics of the gory endo and stuff. At the top she wrote, "and we wondered why you were in pain" I actually felt validated in the pain and that it wasn't in my head.

DH even emailed them to his family. Most were grossed out. Except BIL, who couldn't hear enough about the surgery.

I know, I have a sick sense of humor.

i dont' have any pictures but my doctor says she wishes they had a picture of it. she said it was the ugliest uterus she's ever seen. i had sub-mucosal, intermural, and subserosal fibroids and tons of them, so many they didn't bother to count. LOL
i keep imaging this guy is exactly what my uterus was doing!!!!!

DTracyZ,

I would have loved to see my uterus. Part of it is my curiosity. But in addition, that "monster" caused me nothing but pain, discomfort and lots of laundry for years. If I'd been in a stranger mood, I might have taken it home, shoved a small bomb in it and blown it to smithereens.

Talk about closure!

OK. I'm not in THAT strange a mood... yet. ;-)

The basketball

My surgeon volunteered two polaroids during my TAH. In one she was pointing at a "basketball" sized object (my uterus) that she had just pulled out from the abdominal cavity but had not quite done the final snip. Most of my female friends were fascinated to see it (plenty of WOW factor) but the social worker in the hospital I'd shown it do, in my morphine haze, said you know, you really should warn people when you're passing the photo over.It really was a pretty thing. But it had to go.

Yuengling and Vegemite,

Maybe we should start a "Blow it to smithereens" club.

I don't know if either of you recall a Bugs Bunny cartoon when Bugs runs around a castle dealing with a big odd-shaped orange furry monster. Its shape vaguely reminds me of a uterus.

Imagine a 'Smithereens club' t-shirt with that cartoon monster on it, holding a cute little cartoon bomb.
