Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 22-Feb 28,2021

Hello my sister’s,
I kept my ovaries, but today I woke up feeling sluggish and like I am having hot flashes.
Has anyone else felt like they are having hot flashes?
I took my temperature in the ear and across my forehead and temperature is normal.

On the upside, I have had two BMS and my appetite is picking back up some. I think I over did yesterday I went on a short walk with my beautiful daughter! And then I had online class from 7pm to 9 pm which I had to be on camera, which I tried to sit up the whole time. That was a big no no.

My recovery is going well to be 6 days out! My sleep is still off as well, besides today I have been doing well!!

Let’s keep pushing we got this!!

I kept my ovaries as well and have experienced a few time where I felt like I was having a hot flash. From what I understand, this is normal until our ovaries kick back into gear and realize what just happened to our bodies.

I think I overdid it a bit yesterday too, just in doing a little too much walking and moving around. I was pretty sore last night and tired.

I’m contemplating returning to work tomorrow, as I feel pretty good during the day and I work remote. Any thoughts from anyone?

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 22-Feb 28,2021

Hi,
This site has provided so much information & support and without it, I would never have been prepared for this! Thank you!

5 days after laparoscopic total abdominal, kept ovaries, everything else gone. I feel good - or at least better than I thought I would. Low dull pain occasionally but mainly now itchy around the 3 incisions. I’m pretty bruised on outside. Anyone have thoughts on what to use on the bruising? Arnica cream?

I’m taking 2 x Tylenol (500) about every 8-10 hours and it’s all I seem to need. Sleeping well at night, not much appetite but forcing myself to eat somewhat regularly, even if small.
BM’s began yesterday without issue. Phew.

Decided to take the first 2 weeks really slowly as I believe it will help long term recovery. I’m hoping to be back to working out & tennis in about a month so this time to heal is important I think.

Swelly belly not too bad right now, though I’m prepared for it to last longer than I’d like. Thoughts?!

Be well all - hope everyone’s recovery going well. Take care.

Totally agree with you -- the first two weeks are important.

I also noticed bruising underneath my belly button -- and for the first week looked like a real fat squishy face. Getting better but is the source of the most soreness. And SUPER itchy.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 22-Feb 28,2021

Hello my dear Ladies,

I’m at 7 days post. Pain is definitely manageable on ibuprofen. Stitches a tad itchy. So far that seems the easy part.

So I think I also overdid it yesterday. Too much walking around and my legs started to cave. Completely exhausted. Also had this ‘stressed out feeling’ which is likely to do with hormones plus body focussing on surgery recovery. I was on Lupron 3-month shot, 3 months prior to surgery (chemically induced menopause to help shrink fibroid before surgery) and now with the ovaries slow to recover, I’m a bit of a hormonal mess. Im off the add-back estrogen therapy I was on with Lupron as well. Hot flashes are something else these days.

Another issue I am now having (that I need like a hole in the head) is super tight muscles. More so in neck and shoulders. I’m gathering this is completely due to the stress of prepping for surgery and now trying to heal (and not necessarily taking it as easy as I should.). This ended up causing my right jaw to become tight and now I have swelling there.
So I have called the doc to rule out anything further (I have arthritis in my jaw) and back in bed on Advil to help with that inflammation too. Just waiting for a call back. Good times!!

Glad to hear everyone seems to be coming along for the most part.
Here’s to listening to the world and resting up!!

Glad you got antibiotics quickly, so you can get rid of the infection. Did you have any signs of infection or did your doctor catch it upon examination?

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 22-Feb 28,2021

Hi everyone! I'm new, forgot I had even signed up in December! I had a complete hysterectomy (lapro and I think robotic, but it didn't matter to me). My sympathy goes out to all you with such high levels of pain. I stayed over one night and was told I was only receiving IV ibuprofen or Tylenol. With that, I was about a 2. Moving around more as I got home, I experienced a little more pain, but only took my Tylenol 3 at bedtime for three nights. Now about poop, because who doesn't like talking about poop? I had urges, but none strong and I was SO afraid to push, so I waited. Probably my biggest mistake. My pain came with horrible constipation after not going until the 4th day after the procedure. My body said it was time to come out, and it took me 4 tear-filled sessions to finish for the day. That was Saturday. Sunday was the same with less frequency, but blood from what I suspect are hemorrhoids. (No vaginal blood, so I think my sutures are intact!) Called the doc and got permission for an enema. Helped some. Woke up at 3 am for another complete emptying, with less pain, but still blood. Since then, it's been more "regular" and less painful, but painful just the same. Using one stool softener every evening and some essential oils products, I'm having some relief. I don't like taking synthetic things if possible. Surgical follow-up on Friday!

Tip from a fellow "oily" friend--add a drop or two of peppermint oil to the toilet--yes the toilet--to help. I haven't tried it yet. She says didn't believe it til she tried it!

Healthy Healing, everyone!

My incision started to have an bad odor, but she thinks it came from having to have my incision sitiched back up in the hospital from being burst open right after I made it the recovery room.

I have little external bruising, but feel like my colon was in a boxing match! I'm using the essential oil Digize to improve the digestive tract and Purification to help relieve the liver from the anesthesia (both applied to my belly, sometimes Digize in my water). These are supposed to help ease things according to my "oily friend."
