7/11 checking in

WOW, what an experience. I can't believe how bad it WASN'T! The very worst part was the hour delay getting into the OR, I'm all undressed w/ nowhere to go! With the exception of the doe-doe nurse that put in my IV, everyone was so awesome. The day of surgery is just gravy . . . hooked up to a pain pump and a cath . . . no worries. I would fall asleep mid-sentence. I was up, out of bed, hand bathed and dressed in my own pjs less than 24 hours later. I did everything that was asked, walked a ton, drank plenty, but no passage on the gasage until late that night. I honestly don't count myself as a tough chick, but I have lived thru 2 kidney stones. I never rated my pain above a 6. The nurses couldn't get over how good I looked, one even said I didn't even look like I belonged in the hospital. Please be kind to your nurses, they work really hard. I got sprung on 7/13. I truly truly believe that the fact that it wasn't so bad is because I found this place. Knowledge is power and I didn't experience anything that I wasn't ready for. The nurses were very excited to check this place out themselves, who know what they could add. I had the staples removed today and while I was out, I had my nose ring put back in. I'm feeling remarkably good. Hug hug kiss kisss to everyone who has posted on this board.

Your post was so funny and uplifting! I am also a 7/11 princess. My experience has been very similar to yours, except instead of a nose ring my dh ceremoniously placed my wedding ring back on my finger last night. Welcome home and I hope you continue to have a pleasant recovery! and

<<<Welcome Home!!! I too had my surgery on 7/11/05. Like you, I had to wait an hour after scheduled surgery time to have mine done. I got myself worked up over nothing. I was going nuts before they wheeled me into the OR. Last thing I remember was them telling me they were going to put stuff in my IV for me, next thing I know I'm waking up to the nurses telling me that it was all done and over.
<<<I had mine done Lap, so I was able to go home the very next day. (total castle stay was less than 24 hours) My nurses were awesome!!! I really enjoyed my stay.(other than being sore and in pain) I absolutly hate going to a hospital where the nurses are total jerks to you. I however was lucky that wasn't my experience at the hospital I stayed at. I even wrote a little note to the nurses on the floor I was on,letting them know how impressed I was with them and they were (in my opinion) the true defination of what a nurse should be.
<<<Glad you are back home and doing well. Take it easy and happy recovery.
