so many questions

I'm due to have LAVH on Nov. 5th. I don't think I'll be staying in the castle overnight, although I am being admitted to a 23 hour surgery care center. Anyway, my mom is going to stay with me for a few days after the operation. I have two cats. What I need to know is will I be able to bend over to give them food and water? Also, will I be able to lay on my couch, or should I plan to stay in bed? Any help you can give me is truly appreciated!

Thanks ladies!

Re: so many questions

Hi Jo-Jo, I had my LAVH on October 4th. As far as bending over to feed the cats, that probably won't be a good idea as you will be sore for awhile. Ask you dr. and see what he/she thinks. That's nice that your mom will be there to help you for awhile...do you live alone? I found that laying in bed was easier for me, as my couch was tooooo soft and that made it uncomfortable for me. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. Keep us posted and let us know how you are doing. Hugs to you!

Re: so many questions

Have you ever thought of getting a automatic feeder and water dish? I have one for my two dog's, they are about the size of cat's and the food and water last for about a week, before they need refilling. Just a suggestion. Good luck with your surgery, mine is on Nov. 3rd.

Re: so many questions

Thank you so much for the quick responses ladies! I do live alone with the exception of my two lovely furballs! I never thought about using one of those week-long feeders. Great suggestion sandlewood! I'm so fortunate to have a mother that wants to help as much as she can. I'm also so glad I found this wonderful site! I'm still nervous, but not the bundle of nerves I was a few days ago. Hopefully I'll be able to assist another woman after I have my surgery. Thanks again ladies!

Re: so many questions

I live alone, 2 dogs and a cat, and I also have the gravity feedeers / water dishes for all the animals. They work wonders and minimize the need for bending. They come in different sizes too !
