Surgery next week

Help, Pre-op worries ! I recieved insurance okay for my surgery
but there is no approved hospital stay on it. Is a TAH done as
out patient ? Does anybody know what this stands for {TTL
ABDOM HYST (CORPUS AND CERVIX) . All this has really started making me wonder if I have decided to do the right thing .


Any help would be appreciated .

While I'm sorry that you are facing surgery, I am glad that you found HS and posted. As far as I am aware, an abdominal hysterectomy would not be done as an out-patient, and you will probably be in the hospital for 3 or 4 nights, depending on whether there are any unexpected complications. I don't have any medical background, but I think that the terminology that you have asked about means that your uterus, including your cervix, will be removed.

Why don't you call your doctor's office today and ask his nurse? She should be able to tell you how long they expect you to be in the hospital and exactly what that sentence means.

In the meantime, please read the Pre-Op Hints and the Post-Op Hints. They are full of great advice that will help you to prepare for your surgery and recovery.
