Menopause, adenomoyosis, bleedind after activity

Hi all,
I'm 51, US scan shows enlarged uterus and adenomyosis, with backpain cramps etc...I am trying to hold out before making a decision about hysterctomy, as they do say it gets better after menopause, my last proper period was 4 months ago and lasted 3 weeks.

Recently after strenuous activity, like mowing the lawn(it's big) or wallpapering my kitchen I have had bleeding, like jam, jelly for 3-4 hours. I even had a severe coughing episode and it happened. Has any body else experienced something like this???

Re: Menopause, adenomoyosis, bleedind after activity

Yes. Before hyst it got so I couldn't even go down the driveway to check the mail without this happening. Don't even get me started on what happened when I tried to use a rebounder. That was scarey!

If I had it to do over again, i would have waited it out. Perhaps tried an old fashioned D&C to see if it helped or not (I know, not ideal for adenomyosis or fibroids, but it might would have helped with excessive bleeding). Changed my diet to mostly whole foods. Tried natural progesterone 10 days of the month to see if that helped.

Anyway, it should get better with less estrogen as you move towards menopause.

Hi 6andcounting,
do you mind if I ask how old you were when you had the hyst. I have only just made the connection with this type of bleeding since my periods stopped 4 months ago. But in hindsight it has been going on for years, pain and bleeding after sex is very common. The size of my uterus does not seem to be shrinking, and so I have a an appointment with my gynae end of feb....

Re: Menopause, adenomoyosis, bleedind after activity

I was 49. I'd had problems for years which makes sense since they said the adenomyosis was probably a result of tissue getting in the muscle wall after childbirth. Yes, I had the after sex stuff too. It'd gotten to the point where I had about 5 good days a month.

I knew I had fibroids because I could feel it when I laid on my stomach, but they kept telling me no, I didn't- until finally I got scanned and they found multiple ones. This was after the rebounder incident.

Anyway, no one knows how you feel but you.
