Normal to feel so anxious with 7 weeks still to go??
Hi. I am scheduled for surgery on November 28, which is about 7 weeks away. About 3 weeks ago, I started waking up in the middle of the night, my heart pounding, sweating and feeling like I was dying. Now, I haven't thought much about the surgery, I don't know why. I am scared, but I am unable to really talk about what scares me. I suppose I am having anxiety attacks, but is it normal with so much time left to go? Someone just told me that it could be due to not talking about it, and pushing (the fears) away for now. I am a 28 year old married mother of 3, and there are so many things to try to get ready, I am overwhelmed. How am I going to decorate my christmas tree??
I guess I am really scared, and do not know how to express it. Is it normal to bottle up these emotions? Will I have a meltdown right before surgery? I realize I am not making much sense, but I do not know what to do. I have my pre op appointment on October 20, I guess I will ask the doc what she thinks too. However, she never was a LIW, so her knoweledge comes from books. I need you all to help me. I do not want more kids, but I am so sad at the thought of losing that part of me. I never thought I would feel this way. Am I immature?? Any thoughts you can share, I would be so greatful for.
Ami

Normal to feel so anxious with 7 weeks still to go??
Hi Ami!
From what I've learned on this site, I think your fears are absolutely normal. We're facing major surgery and its scary. My surgery is scheduled for January so I have a lot of time to get crazy about it. I am choosing NOT to let it upset me. I visit this site everyday and read all that I can. I'm choosing to believe my experience will be a positive one - as many, many of them are.
I don't know if there is ever a convenient time to have surgery but I purposefully scheduled my trip to the Castle for after the holidays. You didn't mention how old your children are but they would probably love to decorate the tree. If they are small, they're going to put all the decorations at their eye level. Your tree will be quite unique and they'll be thrilled with their handiwork!
I hope you'll come to this site often and share your concerns. You can learn so much from the women who have "been there, done that." They are helping me to feel positve about the whole experience. Now if I come back here at the end of December and I'm a LUNATIC, I'll be looking forward to hearing of YOUR positive experience!
My best to you!

Normal to feel so anxious with 7 weeks still to go??
Dear Sweet Sunflower. . .
I know just how you feel, I was feeling the same way 2 days ago. My surgery is on November 3. You have every right to feel the way you do. As I was telling the sisters the other day, I felt as if I was being backed into a corner with noway out, because the date is getting closer and closer. When some of the dear hearts here informed me that I was not alone. Keep reading some of the messages here and you will find that many of us are in the same boat. Talking about is has helped me a lot. And I also ordered the Sister Hyster Book that is offered. I can't wait to get it. I've learned so much off the site, that I know this book will help me through along with God and our
concerned friends. I'll keep you in my prayers. And in answer to your question, I think its very normal to feel the way you do. It's MAJOR surgery. Keep reading and writing, and most of all PRAY. You sis, sonyia

Normal to feel so anxious with 7 weeks still to go??
Hi SweetSunflower,
I know just how you feel. I am scheduled for a TVH on Oct. 20 for a prolapsed uterus. It is getting close but I have been nervous for weeks. And now whenever I think about it my heart actually skips a beat. It's wierd! I had my gallbladder out about 13 yrs. ago and I was no where near this scared. I think it has something to do with the part that they are going to take out. I have 4 children and always loved having babies, so even though I don't really want anymore, it will be so final. Plus, it's such a private area, it's creepy to have it operated on. Anyway, that's how I am feeling. Rest assured that you are not alone. I'll be praying for you.

Normal to feel so anxious with 7 weeks still to go??
Girl do I know how you feel? I am scheduled for a vaginal hysterectomy and bladder suspension (keeping the ovaries) for a prolapsed uterus on Nov. 7. I am also scared and ready all at the same time. I hope this is normal. Apparently it is since all the replies you've gotten say so. I have two children and I know for a fact that I don't want anymore. I hate being pregnant. But I'm with you; the fact that that part of my body was home to my two miracles for 9 months and now it will be gone is really the most emotional part for me. I'm 31 years old and I have SEVEN pregnant friends right now. I just kind of feel alone since none of my friends have been through this. And Lord knows my husband sure doesn't know what I'm feeling. But I know God will see me through. He always has a plan (JER.29:11) and I'm trusting him completely. I'll be praying for you. God bless!
