a question about pain

OK. I'm new here and am scheduled for a TAH/BSO (??? not sure of abbreviation) on 11/7. I had 2 c-sections many years ago, and wonder if the pain is similar. The Dr. will be going in through the same place. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

a question about pain

I have had one c-section and am wondering the same thing. I'm scheduled for next Wednesday for a TAH with everything being taken out, and I'm anxious to see the replies that you get. Good luck with your surgery.

a question about pain

I thought the pain was very similar, the restrictions and rest are very different.

a question about pain

Ladies, I too wondered about that same thing. I had a c-section 19 years ago and had a supracervical hyst. on 8/23. The pain is similar. I found that I needed more rest from the hyst. My doctor told me to be very patient with myself especially during the first week. That was excellent advice. Each day during that first week keep reminding yourself that this is the worst of it and it will keep getting a little better each day. One of the MOST important things is to rest and the other is definitely attitude. By keeping a positive attitude you will help yourself get through it more easily. I am 7 weeks post op now and, even though the first couple of weeks went slowly, I can't believe that I feel so great and it's all over already! It really isn't as terrible as you are expecting. I was terrified the day before the surgery but I wouldn't have been, had I known how well I was going to do. Ask family and friends to help - don't be too proud to ask. Have a very comfortable place to sleep and, by all means, take your pain medication as prescribed. If it doesn't work, ask your doctor to change it. Also, ask your doctor how large your incision will be. Ask him any questions you have AGAIN, just before surgery. If you came through your c-section well, you will probably do fine with this too. Just keep reminding yourself that soon you will be better than ever. That was a lifesaver for me. Best wishes for a wonderful recovery!

a question about pain

This pain did not feel like having a baby to me. I have no tolerance for pain but this was fine. I wonder if it has something with the uterus not contracting after the baby is born. I was able to take over the counter pain meds after about 3 or 4 days. I saved the hard core stuff for my coughing spells.
