What a mess!

I had a thermal balloon ablation in Nov 03 and everything was ok for about 6 months. Since then, the bleeding has gotten worse. I had my annual check up in early May and the dr said I had a 2cm fibroid extruding from my cervix. Had gushing blood end of May and got a progesterone shot which only stopped red stuff for a couple of days. Had an appt today for endometrial biopsy and couldn't have it done because this stupid fibroid is now the size of a golf ball. When I am not gushing, I am bleeding like a fast dripping faucet. We scheduled a "fibroid" removal surgery for the 21st of June. There is only one surgi center here and the drs take turns I guess. I can no longer use tampons because the obstruction of the fibroid. The dr. said everytime the fibroid is "annoyed" I am going to be bleeding. I'm not doing anything right now! and am leaking like a sieve. I am already anemic and nothing was said about that today. I was initially so relieved to know that I might not have to have a hysterectomy I didn't even discuss that. Am I really going to have to put up with this for 2 weeks? Any suggestions?? I'm back to being afraid to be more than 30 seconds from a bathroom.

What a mess!

Hi bikegal

I am so sorry you are going through this.
I do not have any personal experience with fibroids but I can relate to the heavy periods and not going far from the bathroom.

Here is a link to our resource section on fibroids.

You may also want to check out www.thefibroidplace.com for additional information about your options for fibroids.

What a mess!

Hey troubled tabby...
Sorry your first procedure seems to have given you such a brief period of relief.
For strategies on survival till 21st...check the links offered here. There were very helpful for me.
I'm now one week post -op from my hysterscopic myomectomy to remove my sub-mucosal fibroids and feeling better every day. The real results remain to be seen in the months to come.
I had a lupron shot one month before the procedure that was to induce menopause....there's details on the particular experience in other posts...just search on Lupron at this site.
There are other meds that can reduce the flow that I think are progesterone based. Since it's close you may not get relief established before your procedure.
Some personal tips follow:
1. I used depends undergarments when things were bad for me. Just treated them like disposable panties and put the overnight pads right in them, replacing them during the day.
2. I also invested in a good bed protector to avoid staining my mattress.
3. I also bought some very cheap and dark pants/skirts that I plan to throw away when my cycles are reestablished.
Hope the tips help and hang in there while you wait.
