I am so bummed out. I can't believe this

I was just getting my stuff ready so I'll have them when I go to the hospital and wouldn't you know. I get a call from the dr. saying that the surgery date has to be changed to April 20th at 2:00pm. There were no morning surgeries. Just when I am mentally trying to get myself ready, the dr. told me that the schedules got fouled up and that I could keep my original date but I'd have a different dr., who I'd have to meet and go over my information all over again. So, unwillingly I took the April 20th appt. so I can have the same dr. If they make the date any further I'd like to say the heck with it. I don't like saying this, but this is what you get when you go to a free clinic. If I had a private dr., this type of thing wouldn't happen. At the clinic the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Oh, I'm so ticked. There was supposed to be another dr. there during the surgery, but when I mentioned this to my dr., she didn't know what I was talking about. So far this hasn't been a good day. UGGGGHHHH!!!!!

I was also told that no surgeries are done before noon. Has anybody ever heard of this? I never have. There is one person ahead of me waiting for a hyst and it takes me another 8 weeks to have mine. I planned on getting a 2nd opinion anyway. I am going to see if this other dr. that I know and trust might be able to do the surgery. I don't know how they feel about taking over other dr.'s patients. My hospital costs are covered. It's the drs. fee that I have to find out about.

I would definately go see the other doctor. I've never heard of a hospital not doing morning surgery. Mine was at 7:30 am and I was out and in my own room by 11:00.

I can only imagine how frustrating this must be for you and I'm really sorry to hear things aren't going very smoothly. I know I got really discouraged because my wedding ring had been stuck on my finger since pretty much after I got married because I gained weight so quickly. I never wanted to have it cut off but they told me in the holding area before my surgery that if I refused to have it cut that my surgery would be canceled. I cried the whole time she was cutting. But I managed to keep my date and go on with the surgery.

I do know all about the no surgeries before noon thing though. My doctor actually sees patients at his office in the morning on Thursdays and does surgeries in the afternoon. I was a 2:00 surgery. Luckily the C-section in front of me went a lot faster than they thought and I got called in to come in a little earlier. The lack of food for so long (the whole day before surgery) was killer and then to not even have any water after midnight the day of was even worse. But I saved a lot of my preparation stuff for the last minute so I was so busy I didn't have too much time to notice how hungry or thirsty I was. I can sympathize with you on that one though. A second opinion never hurts. I wish you much luck.

You can bet I am going to mention this to the dr. that I'm getting the 2nd opinion from. If the dr. I go to now only does hysts after 12pm, they couldn't get very many done. I don't want to wait until 2pm to have my surgery. By then my nerves will be shot and it doesn't make any sense at all. The dr. I have is a third year Resident and is 30. Well, I know she had done a lot of surgeries, but in my mind she isn't as experienced as a dr. who has their own practice and is about 40 or a little older.
Surgeries only done after noontime? That is bizarre. Why don't they just operate in the middle of the night. LOL.........

My doctor will only do surgeries in the morning because that is when he has the best help. Maybe your doctor has the best help in the afternoon. I can't imagine how you are feeling. I hope that nothing gets in the way of my surgery. I am a basketcase the way it is.

Doctors usually have the operating room for a scheduled time only. Like certain hours on certain days of the week. Most hospital or's are in high demand and drs are assigned certain times by the hospital. Then all the dr's in the practice divide that time between each other.

I am sorry you are having to reschedule. That was a big fear of mine. If you like your dr I would definitely wait.

Actually I've been waiting since last September for that date. But, there is nothing I can do about it. It's just that the longer I wait, the more cold feet I get. I am getting a 2nd opinion, but most likely will have the first dr. do the surgery. My dr. told me that is only one other person ahead of me waiting for a hysterectomy, so I don't know why she had to postpone it? She must have to be somewhere else that day because when the original appointment was made, she was free that day. Oh well, that's the way things go.
