Why do all my friends keep cautioning me about LAVH?

My mother-in-law and several of my friends/acquiantances tell me that a vaginal hyst is awful. They tell me that intimacy afterward is not the greatest. Some have even told me that surgery ruined them.

I've had an emergency C-section. I know what recovery after abdominal surgery is like! YUCK!

I realize that we can only do this surgery one time. So nobody can make a real comparison. But, what's so bad about a vaginal hyster?

Why do all my friends keep cautioning me about LAVH?

Hi "C"

Just read your post. I too am having a VH on June 23. I understand your concerns and fear about what your friends and family had said. I too am worried about the same. I am having a hyst to get rid of all the pain, etc. so me and my dh can have a wonderful sex life again. I don't want to have the surgery if it is gonna be as bad if not worse. This is a great forum and the women here are really good about telling their life experiences and how their surgeries have gone. Someone will come along shortly to give you some insite on this particular topic...........Hopefully it will help the 2 of us..........

Take care and good luck.

Alle

Why do all my friends keep cautioning me about LAVH?

I am 9 weeks post op from a TVH and have had no major problems to speak of and sex is good and getting better all the time! I do have a little stinging sensation at times, but nothing major and it goes away pretty quickly. I have just assumed that it's all part of the healing process and will get better with time. I definitely have no regrets!

I had a TVH and other stuff as well. They only difference that I notice (as does my husabnd) is that it's tighter at the opening and inside.

He's thrilled and for a while it felt like the first time all over again!

Why do all my friends keep cautioning me about LAVH?

I'm 4 weeks post op from my LAVH and my recovery has been AWESOME. My hubby and I have been experiamenting with outercourse, and I notice no difference in my "O" than before. Actually, I find my sex drive is much higher than before surgery. I can't wait to be released in two more weeks to see if it's going to be as great as I imagine it's going to be. Good luck!

Why do all my friends keep cautioning me about LAVH?

Hey Sisters! I just was released by my doc yesterday (LAVH 4-23)......Yeah! I had my first bubble bath in more than 5 weeks, then had a wonderful sexual interlude.......I slept so well. Nothing like great sex for great sleep.

No problems here, Sisters. So glad I did it. No complications, not much discomfort, just some boredom in the long recovery time. Good luck to you, and DON'T listen to the nay-sayers. Unless they have had the surgery themselves, they don't know what they're talking about.

Do your research and decide what's right for you. You're in the right place to do just that! God bless.
