freaking out
Hi i am do to have my complete hysterectomy July 24th I was supppose to have it done today. My doctor had to fly out of town. I AM EXPERIENCING SO MUCH FEAR. My heart is just pounding everyday. I am wondering will I have cancer will I bleed to death will I go into cardiac arrest will I get a blood clot. My doctor ordered all kinds of test, I found out that I have a blood clot in my right leg but doctor said it is not deep vein where I would be on blood thinners. I am going to have Endovenous Laser after I heal. ( I'm scarred of that too. Anyway has anyone else went crazy like this with worry ???? I just want it to be over and I want everything to be ok I am a single mom. My son is grown but still needs me and so does my grandson. Both live with me. I cannot stop thinking about all of the things that could go wrong. have any of you other ladies went crazy like me before surgery with worry??? I am also afraid of the catheder man that sounds awful and of course I am prone to bladder infections, I just have so much dout. Would love some advise

freaking out
Hi Beama,
First of all one of these and then a couple of these Everyone of your fears are soooooooo normal. Remember to breath and take one day at a time, I have to remind myself of that all the time as the time gets closer. Do all the reading that you can here. The ladies here are so amazing when it comes to tips and ideas. Finding this site was a blessing.
As for the cathator man well none of us really want it but just think about not having to get up those first couple of hours. Let your Dr know you are prone to infections and they should remove it as soon as possible then just be sure and ask for the good ol cranberry juice.
Hang in there and come here often there is always someone around.

Your fears are quite normal.... I was worried sick until a few days prior... then all of a sudden I became totally calm... until I got to the hospital... then came the "happy" meds and I was fine LOL.
I'm prone to UTIs and bladder infections also... my doc gave me an antibiotic for the firt week or so to try to prevent one... it worked well for me. The catheter really isn't as big a deal as it seems.... the fear of it is worse than having it... it's usually put in when you go into the OR, so you don't even know there doing it.... I've had urodynamics testing before (they have to cath you several times) and that wasn't too bad either.... the catheter doesn't hurt, just feels weird.... but it sure is nice to NOT have to get out of bed right after surgery
I know it's hard, but try to relax... you'll make it through to the other side before you know it. Sending big s your way
