Anyone else going on Fri, 13th?

Hello Ladies-in-Waiting!

I am scheduled to have a 9x9x9 mm mass removed and, if needed, TAH/BSO (I think I got those acronymns right) on Friday, July 13th. Anyone else going that day?

Interestingly enough, my mom had her mastectomy on Fri 13th. Must be a lucky day for our family.

I have about three weeks to prepare. Doing a lot of reading, making lists: What to Buy, What to Pack, Questions for the Doc, etc. What else is there? Let me know what you are doing to prepare.

I have written myself a list of affirmations to read daily. Seems to help refocusing from fear/anxiety.

Would love to hear from others who are 2-3 weeks away from their date.

Anyone else going on Friday, July 13th?

Hi, mine will be July 3rd. I have been reading a lot too, and also wrote myself a list of items.
Love this website, and the sisters are great!
I am going to Target today after work to get my surgery shopping done.
I want to be as prepared as possible. Let's stay in touch!

Anyone else going on Friday, July 13th?

Hi AZHeat!

I am so happy to know someone else is out there. I went to Target yesterday, bought Gas-X and a thermometer, in case I run a temp. I would love to keep in touch

Anyone else going on Friday, July 13th?

Three days of waiting left to go. It cant come soon enough. Although I still have a few things left to do. More projects around the house. I have been cleaning like a fiend for the last week. Believe me that is soooo out of character for me.

I havemy pre-op appt tomorrow. I have my list of q's and all my paperwork filled out. I also pre-registered online. I hope my lab has faxed over my blood work results from last Sat. My mom and sister are going to go with me. We are meeting for breakfast so we can coordinate all our schedules for the next two weeks; who will take care of the animals, work schedules for my mom and sis, caring for my nephew, appts. etc. Then we are off to the hosp.

I only have a few concerns like if my sister can go with me while the give me the IV. I have a terrible needle phobia and I do not want to have a panic attack prior to surgery. My dr gave me a Rx for valium so I hope that helps.

What kind of food did you all stock up on? How did you arrange your bedroom? Will the hospital instruct me on how to get in and out of bed? I hope so. I know it helps to get up and get moving w/o overdoing it but I am afraid if it hurts to much I might hesitate to do so.

I ordered an L-shaped pillow from Sleepsations and it arrived today. I think it will be a wonderful tummy pillow.

How soon after surgery do you think I will be able to go on a car ride? I thought it might be nice to go to a movie if I am feeling up to it.

Should I bring my own pillow/blanket to the hosp?

This is one long post so I will sign off. But I would still like to know if anyone else is having surgery on Fri the 13th as I am.

Counting on the days, trying to keep the anxiety and racing thoughts at bay.
