remove cervix?

I need to ask at my preop as I am unsure if my doc plans to remove the cervix when he does my surgery. I know they are planning on taking the uterus and left ovary. I have a mass that is cystic and solid on the left ovary and fibroids. The plan is to leave the right if it still looks as good as it did on mri. What do you all recommend as far as leaving the cervix. Is there a difference afterward. I am only 38 so I want to keep things as good as possible as far as sex and my bladder.

I had my cervix removed and I have not had a problem since. I have a healthy sex life, just as great as before... and nothing is different for me, except NO MORE female problems... I feel great, and I would not change a thing. As far as what the future holds, I will pass that bridge when I get there, however I did not want to keep my cervix for fear of cervical cancer in the future since I have had several abnormal paps in my life!! You should base your decision on what is best for you.

I had an LAVH, so didn't have the choice to keep my cervix, but, honestly, it doesn't seem to have made a difference to my bladder. As for sex, its great too; actually no more pain in certain positions when DH bummped the cervix
Be aware, too, that if you keep your cervix, you may have 'mini periods'. Here is a link to an article about the cervix question:
