Dentures

Does anyone wear dentures? I have two partials and no front teeth upper or lower. No one has seen me without my dentures! Only my man a time or two, as I wear them at night as well. I turn from a beauty to beast without my teeth.

I know they will have to be out for the surgery, but when can I have them back in!!? I can't even eat without them!

I have seen a lot of people without their teeth as I worked at a nursing home. But I have fangs of natural teeth left and makes a scary sight.

I found an old thread on dentures but it won't let me post it even though its from this site. Most said they will be the last thing out before surgery and first thing back in after surgery. Do a search on here for the word "dentures"

Lol! That was also my concern with my surgery. Honestly, my eye glasses and my dentures were the last things I took off before my surgery. I was able to put my dentures back in as soon as my pain was manageable and I could speak coherently (I had to ask the nurse to pass me my bag to get them out). Wish you an uneventful surgery and a relaxing recovery...

I think I feel about my glasses the way you feel about your dentures! I brought a hard case to put my glasses in before surgery and put the case into my bag when I had to take my glasses off. When I woke up in my hospital bed, the bag was there waiting for me, and I was able to ask for and get my glasses right away.

Note that if you wake up while you're still in the recovery room, your dentures won't be there yet - they'll be waiting for you in your room. (Me, I don't remember the recovery room *at all*.)

Also, eating may not be an immediate concern. I wasn't allowed liquids other than water until the second day after surgery, and I wasn't allowed solids until the third day. This was after a TAH, so your experience may be different.
