Flying after Hysterectomy and Bilateral Salpingo Oophorectomy (BSO)

I am scheduled april 1st (of all days) for the a hysterectomy and BSO recovering at home on STD FMLA and still working about 3 hrs a day (from home). On May 5th I am scheduled to fly on buisness for the week to Nashville from Boston. I can't predict how I am going to feel, but is it safe, is that enough time to recover and what would the complications be, what should I bring with me? Your opinions are greatly appreciated. (Traveling alone)

Re: Bilateral Salpingo Oophorectomy - BSO (Flying after)

I had a full hysterectomy along with ovaries out on Jan. 7th and was cleared for air travel on Jan. 22nd as long as I wheeled my suitcase (no lifting yet).

Thansk Buddha babe did you end up flying, how were you during and after? I heard you have to be careful of clotting, but how would you know?

I'd say hard to predict as such... Everyone heals at her own pace. I resumed work today and i can tell you at same time last week, i was doubting whether i would be fit. Am glad to share my first day went well, i drove some 100 kms and did full day's work. I would suggest a back up plan in case you do not feel fit enough to fly on the 5th May. Cheers and hugs galore
