I am 27 years old, Mom of three.Married for 7 years.
I have had a problem after my third baby was born that after i weaned her that i began my periods..well i was having two in a month. This problem also runs on my mom's side. She had Cervical Cancer and had a Hyst. THis went on for two years before i went to a Gyn.I have been seeing my GYN for a almost a year. We have tried several birth control based pills to regulate me."the girls" must not have been open to that idea. We did a D&C and checked for polyps. No problems there. The last pill we tried i was bleeding for two months. So i just went to my Gyn and "I" after our talk have opted for a hysterectomy..vaginally and leaving the ovaries.I am told this is minimal recovery time. I know this will stop my menses but want to know more from someone whos been there. I have had the awfullest moods and wonder if that will lighten up too...so some encouraging news is greatly needed. i am awaiting a call to set up a day.I am so happy to end this!!!! thanks

Hey Tigger5,
Just wanted to let you know that you're headed in the right direction. I am 9 months post-op and feel wonderful. I didn't have all the problems others have had. I just had four kids and gravity was pulling on everything. I had what I call a partial (leaving ovaries) and had rectal and bladder repair. I won't lie, it wasn't a party, but I do feel great now. As I mentioned earlier, I haven't dealt with the awful things other have, but I'm sure glad to be rid of that bleeding. Just make sure you do what your MD says and take it easy. Don't worry about cleaning and buying the right things to have at the hospital. I didn't even open my bag at the hospital after I went through getting magazines, candy and junk. Just don't fret. Things will be ok and will be there when you feel better.

Also, don't worry about planning everything either. Folks can take care of themselves and the little ones. Let family and neighbors know that you're going in and I'm sure they'll help.

Take care,
