Re: Women aged 50+?
I know that feeling. I took 4 weeks (all I had accrued) and was very glad I did. I was pretty much up and about after the first week or so, but my energy level was up and down a lot.
Getting back to work was easy for me as I work from home and can take breaks whenever.
Because externally, daVinci procedures seem so minor, it's easy to forget that we've had just had really major abdominal surgery.
My surgery was 7 months ago and I almost never think about it. One thing about having a "traditional" procedure is that there's a 6-12" scar to remind you to take it easy.
One of my own high points was at 4 weeks when my MD let me go back to the gym!

Re: Women aged 50+?
I am 58 years old. Tomorrow will be 1 week post-op for me (TVH/BSO). My Dr. told me not to drive for at least 2 weeks after surgery. I am feeling very well, no pain, just very tired. Energy level is almost zero. I am not going back to work until May 3.

Re: Women aged 50+?
Listen to your MD. My doc cleared me to drive almost immediately (I drove 4 days post), but I wish you could have seen the look on her face when I mentioned off-handedly that I drove a stick shift.

re: anesthesia/pain/complications. Amazed myself and the family and friends I drove nuts for weeks w/ my fears. Empty nest for 10 years, new BF (that's a story in itself) and 3 jobs. Teach full time-have 2 businesses. Can't wait to get in the wind again. My gyno doesn't like the idea of me on a motorcycle. Lifelong ambition to own & ride not just ride along.

Re: Women aged 50+?
Hey- 61 also and go back to work in 3 weeks. I just cannot believe I've come thru this w/o all the complications I kept hearing/reading about. I let those horror stories get to me and I had to give up the site for a while...drove my family C-R-A-Z-Y. Stayed w/ my sister for a few days after surgery-came home w/in 24 hours. My sister would not let me get on her computer because she was so concerned that I scare myself silly while recovering. Went to Little League ballgames 6 days post op. Didn't drive until one week post-op. GOING STRONG SINCE!!

Re: Women aged 50+?
I can totally relate to that. I was already through menopause when I had my hysterectomy, but I remember in the middle of peri-menopause thinking that after 30-some odd years of periods, enough already!!!

Re: Women aged 50+?
Hello Ladies: My (surgery) anniversary date came and went without fanfare. In a few months, another milestone will also quietly pass when I turn 55.
Thinking back, I'm amazed that only a few years ago I was agonizing over this procedure and now I panic when my local CVS runs out of my hair color. Goodness!
I hope all is well with everyone, Cheers!
