DaVinci? Who qualifies?

Hello everyone,

Does every woman needing a Hysterectomy qualify to go the DaVinci method?

My Gyno says I don't qualify for Laproscopic Hysterectomy because of my way oversized uterus and numerous Fibroids all over.
How does Laproscopic differ from DaVinci?

I'm thinking since Laproscopic is not for me DaVinci might not be either.

I have never had any previous surgery. Currently I look about 5 or 6 months pregnant.

I am scheduled for a DaVinco myomectomy on 8/12. I asked the surgery scheduler if I am pre-approved (it's a $60,000 procedure) and she said she just submits a special code to the insurance company and they let her know if I'm approved. I've been told it's a pretty standard procedure now.

A da vinci is just a type of lararoscopic surgery. Drs have varying cutofFs for when a uterus is too big. Also sometimes a drug like Lupron is given to shrink the fibroids so that a lap procedure can be done. I'm not sure if there are set guidelines but at least some part is surgeons experience and choice, some part is patient situation. Best wishes on your surgery.

If Lupron is offered I highly recommend doing some research on it before taking it. This is my personal opinion, of course!, but I was offered and even pushed to take it but refused due to the possible side effects. I know some people that it really worked for but have heard so many horror stories that it didn't seem worth it to me.
