hysterectomy in order to have bladder repair?

Hi,
I'm new to this sight, asked a question on another topic but thought this might be a better place for this one. Does anyone know if its really necessary to have a hyst to have bladder repair? My doctor said I need a TVH in order to fix the bladder so thats the solution. I still have a period without any problems other than just being tired of it. If this is the only solution so be it, just curious what some of you might know. Thanks SheilaBeth

A second opinion is definitely in order here... What is the doctor trying to correct? Leakage? If so, what is cause of the leakage?

Get smart about your symptoms and your options... Good luck on your research!

hysterectomy in order to have bladder repair?

Hey girl,
It sounds like your doc wants to take out your kidney because you need an appendectomy. Is there more going on than you mention?
Just remember to listen to your intuition and your body. If what you're being told doesn't seem quite right, get more info, and however many second, third and fourth opinions as YOU need. Once this is done it can't be undone.
Good luck,
Ruth

hysterectomy in order to have bladder repair?

Good morning ladies,
Thanks for your advice. I guess I wasn't entirely clear on my explanation. Leakage isn't much of a problem but the bladder is definitelly falling out. I'm calling her (the doc) this morning to see what she has to say. My other concern is because I still have my period and its not always on schedule what will that do to surgery? I'll ask that too. Thanks again, I really need you guys while figuring all this out and getting through it, the support is great! Have a good day, SheilaBeth

Hello,
If you're not having problems with your uterus, why take it out? I agree with the other sisters, get a second opinion. My suggestion is to go to a Urologist. I know *old school* thinking is that the uterus pushes the bladder out, so if the uterus is removed, no more problem. Don't agree to a hysterectomy until you've gotten more opinions. hysterectomy in order to have bladder repair?

You have what's called a cystocele and you probably don't need a hysterectomy in order to have it repaired. You probably also have a prolapsed uterus. Is your cervix right inside the opening to your vagina? Did your problem start as a result of childbirth?

You need to see a urogynecologist who specializes in bladder suspension w/o hysterectomy.

Cheers! Susan (yes, I have the same problem and have been told I need a hysterectomy too.)
